MANCHESTER, N.H.— Saint Anselm College announced the appointment of
Phil Rowe as Interim Director of Athletics, effective Monday, Jan. 13. Rowe will oversee the day-to-day operations of the athletics division as well as directly supervise selected sport programs and remain in the interim role until a new Director of Athletics is appointed.
Rowe's appointment comes after the departure of Vice President for Athletics Daron Montgomery, who was named to the same role at Lenoir-Rhyne, his alma mater, in December, 2024.
Rowe, who has been serving as Associate Director of Athletics since January 2021, brings over 35 years of coaching and administrative experience to this leadership role. Most recently, Rowe worked in athletics administration at William Peace University in Raleigh, NC. Joining the department as the Director of Athletics in June 2016, he was promoted to the Executive Director of Athletics in August 2017 and served on the University's senior leadership team and the President's University Council.
Rowe's history with Saint Anselm College dates back to 1984, when he served as head women's soccer coach and assistant men's basketball coach. He returned to the Hilltop in as Associate Director of Athletics and resumed that role in January 2021.
Throughout his career, Rowe has held various coaching and administrative positions at institutions including William Peace, Endicott College, Daniel Webster College, Plymouth State, Keene State, and the University of New Hampshire.
Rowe holds a Bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education from Plymouth State and a Master's degree in Athletic Administration from Boston University.
