Women's Tennis Falls 4-3 in Battle with Merrimack

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's tennis team fell to NCAA Division I opponent Merrimack College on Saturday by a 4-3 final score.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Saint Anselm began their match by dropping the first three contests in doubles and trailed, 1-0.
  • Despite the slow start, the Hawks found three wins in singles play. Junior Irene Garbo (Assemini, Sardinia, Italy) picked up a win at No. 1 singles by a 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 final score.
  • Joining Garbo in victory were juniors Natalia Gonzalez Ramos (Guadalajara, Spain) and Camila Heredia Osante (Oaxaca, Mexico). Gonzalez Ramos won her No. 3 matchup in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5, while Heredia Osante also swept at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-1.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Garbo remains perfect in singles this season and improved to 8-0 on the season.
  • Ramos moved to 5-3 in singles this fall.
