Women's Tennis Falls to Assumption, 5-2

Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's tennis team was unable to make a comeback against Assumption after falling early in doubles and ultimately suffered a 5-2 defeat on Wednesday.

  • The Hawks will travel to Springfield, Mas. to take on conference opponent American International on Saturday, October 5th at 1:00 p.m.


HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Saint Anselm began the match trailing after falling in two out of the three doubles matches. The No. 2 doubles pairing of juniors Julie Börschig (Stuttgart, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany) and Camila Heredia Osante (Oaxaca, Mexico) were able to secure the lone doubles win for the Hawks.
  • In singles, junior Irene Garbo (Assemini, Sardinia, Italy) picked up her ninth straight win in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
  • Heredia Osante also picked up a win in singles for the Hawks, but the team was not able earn the victory and fell by a final score of 5-2.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Garbo moved to 9-0 on the season in No. 1 singles, maintaining both an undefeated overall record and conference record.
