HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Saint Anselm had the upper hand early in the match, firing four shot attempts and earning three corner kicks. Senior Caden Leader (Durham, N.H.) produced three of those shots in the opening eight minutes for the Hawks, but none found the frame.
- Bentley made the most of their first scoring opportunity of the game in the 15th minute. Antonio Santos had his shot blocked inside the penalty area for the Falcons, but the loose ball squirted out to the top of the box where Evan Levine tucked a one-time strike inside the left post to give his side the 1-0 lead.
- The Hawks nearly equalized seconds after conceding the game's opening goal. They worked the ball down the field with senior Aiden Lehane (Assonet, Mass.) dribbling down the right flank. His rocket of a shot rattled off the inside of the right post before being cleared away.
- In the 27th minute, Saint Anselm junior goalkeeper David Hood (Manchester, N.H.) was forced into action, denying a shot from Bentley's Johann Fraser to help keep his side down by just a goal.
- The Hawks continued to apply pressure and created several chances in the attacking third to close out the half, but failed to find the back of the net as the score remained 1-0 at halftime.
- Just 27 seconds into the second half, the Falcons stunned the Hawks with another goal to make it a 2-0 game. Fraser got in behind the Saint Anselm defense and set up Logan Veloria with a pass in on goal. Veloria buried his shot into the lower left corner to double Bentley's lead.
- Saint Anselm looked to respond with a set piece just outside the box in the 56th minute, but the shot by sophomore Yves Maurer (Munich, Germany) was saved by Bentley goalkeeper Cam Hall.
- The Falcons scored their third goal of the match almost a minute after that with Bendix Staade slotting one home off another feed from Fraser that made it 3-0.
- Santos got in on the scoring with a volley for Bentley in the 61st minute after a strong build up through the middle. Fraser and Veloria each picked up an assist on the play that helped the Falcons increase their lead to 4-0.
- Both sides started to clear the benches over the final 20 minutes of the match. Hawks junior goalkeeper Peyton Breda (Stoneham, Mass.) entered the game to replace Hood between the pipes and made three saves in what was his second stint of the season.
