HOW IT HAPPENED
- Saint Anselm would strike first and early in their game against Franklin Pierce earning a penalty corner within the first 30 seconds and finding a score from Ellie Brothers (Stafford Springs, Conn.) off a feed from Chloe Kapsambelis (Merrimack, N.H.) at the 41st second. The Hawks would maintain possession within their offensive third for the majority of the first quarter earning scoring opportunities which would be turned away by the Ravens keeper. Saint Anselm would tab their second goal with 40 seconds remaining in the quarter as Laurentien van den Akker (Geldrop, The Netherlands) would find a through ball from Meghan Smith (Uxbridge, Mass.).
- The second quarter would begin relatively uneventfully with the first shot of the quarter coming at the 24th minute, nine minutes into the quarter. A penalty corner at the 26th minute taken by fifth year Maddie Davis (Exeter, N.H.) would set up a rebound scoring opportunity as Abby Brezyak (Oakland, Maine) fed the rebound back to Davis for a Hawks score. Two minutes later Amanda Lewandowski (Franklin, Mass.) would add her name to the scoring list on an unassisted score to put the Hawks up 4-0.
- In the third Saint Anselm would keep rolling scoring less than three minutes into the 15 minute segment. A rebound off of a missed Smith shot would lead to a Marissa Politano (Acton, Mass) racking the score up to 5-0 in favor of the Hawks.
- The final quarter would contain the last score for the visiting Hawks five minutes before the end of regulation. After continuing to maintain possession in their attacking third, first year Sophie Smith (Yarmouth, Maine) would score her first collegiate goal off of a feed from M. Smith.
