HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Saint Anselm earned the first two quality looks of the match within the opening 20 minutes. Fifth-year Zach Verow (Bedford, N.H.) got the ball on the right wing and cut inside before playing a through ball ahead to senior Andrew Kubinski (Norton, Mass.), but his shot from the top of the box was saved by Nova Southeastern goalkeeper Nikolas Ricardo.
  • A few minutes later, Verow broke through on a scoring chance of his own, but Ricardo made another stop for the Sharks.
  • In the 25th minute, Nova Southeastern's Marco Gueli received a pass on the left wing and fired a low-rolling shot, but that did not trouble Saint Anselm junior goalkeeper David Hood (Manchester, N.H.), who made a comfortable save.
  • Gueli got the Sharks on the board in the 32nd minute with a curling one-time strike that glanced off the right post and found the back of the net to make it a 1-0 game.
  • With five minutes remaining in the first half, sophomore substitute Jackson Dresens (Wayland, Mass.) looked to be in on goal for the Hawks, but his shot attempt missed wide to the right as the half ended, 1-0.
  • Nova Southeastern generated the first couple of chances early in the second half and had two shots on goal, but Hood made a couple of sprawling saves to keep his side down by just a goal.
  • In the 50th minute, Saint Anselm connected a string of passes together along the left sideline. The ball made its way to the center of the pitch to freshman Chance Prouty (Danvers, Mass.), who launched a shot from 25 yards out, but it floated just past the left post.
  • Verow fired another shot on frame in the 64th minute, but the Hawks could not get one past Ricardo.
  • The Sharks sealed the game with two more goals in the 65th and 71st minutes. Both tallies came on counter attacks, with Gueli finishing off his second score of the game to make it 2-0 and Markus Rokseth making it 3-0 with a goal of his own.
  • Saint Anselm got some reserves into the game over the final 20 minutes as Nova Southeastern earned the 3-0 victory.
