HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Senior catcher Nolan Elmore (Brentwood, N.H.) caught a pair of Warrior base runners stealing in the opening two innings of the game for the Hawks. Two punch outs by junior pitcher Jared Reminder (Warwick, R.I.) to kept the game level at 0-0.
  • In the third inning, Walker Zampella drove in the first run of the game for East Stroudsburg on a single to put the Warriors up 1-0. After Reminder recorded his third strikeout of the day, Shanley Wall earned an RBI single that brought home Zampella to make it 2-0.
  • East Stroudsburg pitcher Ryan Dewees kept the Saint Anselm bats quiet through the fourth and fifth innings, not allowing a single Hawks hit and earning three strikeouts. In the bottom of the sixth inning, freshman Austin Brune (Billerica, Mass.) produced his first collegiate hit with a laser to right field. He later earned his first career steal, but the Hawks remained down two runs heading into seventh inning.
  • Junior pitcher Adam Betty (Lowell, Mass.) checked into the game for Saint Anselm and allowed just one hit in the bottom of the sixth. The Hawks got on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh thanks to an RBI double down the left field line by Elmore that scored senior Zack Clough (Newbury, Mass.), cutting the Warriors lead to 2-1.
  • East Stroudsburg answered in the bottom of the seventh as Colin Houck brought in the third run for the Warriors with a single to make it 3-1. Betty then punched out two batters in the bottom of the eighth to keep Saint Anselm down by just two runs.
  • Senior Aidan Dow (Lynn, Mass.) kick-started the top of the ninth for Saint Anselm with a single to right field followed by another single from Elmore, giving the Hawks two baserunners with nobody out. East Stroudsburg's closer Gavin Sopko, however, sealed the Warriors sweep against Saint Anselm after forcing a pop up and striking out the final two batters of the inning.
