WORCESTER, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College women's basketball team fell on the road to Assumption University, 64-47, during a Northeast-10 Conference (NE10) clash. The Hawks dropped to 6-9 in league play with the loss to the Greyhounds who improved to a 12-3 conference record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After Assumption opened the game with a good basket, sophomore Harmony Marquez (Rutherford, N.J.) answered with a layup for the Hawks. Molly Stokes knocked down the first three-pointer of the game to put the Greyhounds up 9-4 at the 5:23 mark. Junior Katie Lemanski (Haymarket, Va.) poured in the next four points to make it a one-point game with under four minutes left in the quarter. Teagan Curran buried a triple followed by a late layup from Kaijhe Hall to extend Assumption's lead to 14-8 by the end of the first quarter.
- Senior Alexa Quirolo (New Rochelle, N.Y.) fed the ball to Lemanski who finished a layup to kick off the second quarter of the game. Sophomore Melanie Hoyt (Stamford, N.Y.) went 1-for-2 from the free throw line before Assumption hit their third three-pointer of the afternoon to extend their advantage into double figures.
- Fifth-year Liv Robles (Wallingford, Conn.) and sophomore Tatum Forbes (Pawtucket, R.I.) each made their first baskets of the game for Saint Anselm as the second quarter came to a close. Quirolo finished both free throw attempts in the final seconds of the quarter, but the Greyhounds would hold a 10-point lead over the Hawks heading into halftime.
- Following a good jumper by Forbes to start the third quarter, Marina Callahan finished an and-one play for Assumption to make it 32-21. Saint Anselm connected six straight points started by a layup from Hoyt and ended with sophomore Gina Gaccione (Rutherford, N.J.) making her first basket of the game to cut the Greyhounds advantage down to five points.
- Stokes quickly responded for Assumption draining her second triple to make it 35-27 Greyhounds. Both teams exchanged late baskets at the end of the third quarter, but Assumption kept an 11-point cushion heading into the final quarter.
- Hoyt poured in the opening four points of the quarter for Saint Anselm however another three-pointer by Stokes preserved Assumption's double-digit lead. Both sides started to exchange points in the final four minutes of the game including a good three-pointer from Robles off a Lemanski assist, but Hall's layup ultimately sealed the Greyhounds 64-47 victory over the Hawks.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Assumption outshot Saint Anselm 24-20 in the game with a 49.0 shooting percentage from the floor in comparison to the Hawks 36.4 percent shooting efficiency from the field.
- The Greyhounds also found success from beyond the arc knocking down 9-of-20 three-pointers while the Hawks only made one triple in the contest.
- Assumption outrebounded Saint Anselm by a 33-29 margin with the Hawks grabbing 11 total offensive boards in comparison to the seven from the Greyhounds.
- Saint Anselm held a 7-3 advantage in steals, but Assumption converted 12 points off turnovers while the Hawks made eight points.
- Hoyt led the team with 11 points (5-11 FG, 1-2 FT) along with a team-high seven rebounds and a steal. Robles and Lemanski also poured in 10 points apiece for the Hawks combining for 10 rebounds and six assists.
- Stokes poured in 20 points (7-13 FG, 6-7 3-FG) contributing six of the nine triples for the Greyhounds along with two rebounds and four assists.
