HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Senior Tommy Schwartz (Ridgefield, Conn.) fired the opening shot of the game with Douglas McGuire posting the block for Franklin Pierce. The Hawks earned the first power play of the contest less than a minute into the game rifling four shots including two from sophomore Luke Linart (Holland, Mich.) that Ravens goalie Jeremy Connor saved.
  • At the 6:20 mark, Franklin Pierce struck first with a score from Matt Horan on a breakaway to give the Ravens the early 1-0 edge in the first period. After killing the Ravens' first power play of the night, the Hawks offense produced 16 shots, 10 of which came during a five-minute major penalty on McGuire for boarding, but Franklin Pierce fended off the home team's onslaught to keep the score at 1-0 heading into the first intermission.
  • The Ravens started the second period by firing 10 consecutive shots forcing seven early saves from sophomore goalie Tucker Hanson (Boxford, Mass.). Shortly after killing another Franklin Pierce power play, the Ravens doubled their advantage at the 7:19 mark thanks to Brendan Spinale to make it 2-0.
  • With about eight minutes left in the period, junior Hunter Brackett (Harwick Port, Mass.) notched his 15th score of the season off the helpers from seniors Liam Lyons (Gloucester, Mass.) and Leonard Brochu III (Concord, N.H.) to cut the Ravens lead in half. Few minutes later, senior Jac Cordeiro (Barnstable, Mass.) answered for the Hawks at the 18:00 mark with a goal to even the game at 2-2 just before the break.
  • Saint Anselm wasted no time in the third period as Brochu tallied the go-ahead goal just over a minute into the period to give the Hawks their first lead of the night. Both teams exchanged shots approaching the midway point of the period until Saint Anselm earned the man advantage at the 10:36 mark following a boarding penalty on Franklin Pierce. The Hawks fired four shots with the extra skater but couldn't find the back of the net.
  • Less than two minutes remaining in regulation. Franklin Pierce tied the game at 3-3 with Cody Rumsey ripping a shot into the upper netting to force the game into overtime. The Ravens cemented the victory after John Sterling slotted the puck into the left side of the net to win in overtime by a final score of 4-3.
