HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Almost two minutes into the ball game, junior Zac Taylor (Victoria, Australia) scored the opening basket from long range for Saint Anselm. Senior Matt Becker (Fairfield, Conn.) knocked down a triple of his own a couple of possessions later to give the Hawks an early 6-2 lead.
  • A few minutes later, Morissette got in on the action by knocking down threes on consecutive possessions. Another triple, this time by junior Sean McCarthy (Cork, Ireland), one minute later allowed Saint Anselm to maintain a 19-16 advantage.
  • McCarthy and Morissette continued to excel offensively for the Hawks. The tandem ripped off 19 straight points across eight minutes for Saint Anselm. After their threes, both scored four points inside the paint before fifth-year Tyler Arbuckle (Bristol, Conn.) splashed in his first three of the night, giving the Hawks a 30-23 lead with 6:54 to play in the first.
  • With 42 seconds left in the half, Morissette buried another triple that helped his team take an eight-point lead, 39-31, into the halftime break. The sophomore had 13 points on three made threes at the half.
  • It was all Saint Rose coming out of the locker room to start the second half. The Golden Knights generated momentum thanks to a 7-0 run with every point scored by big man Ata Turgut.
  • Still in front by a point, Saint Anselm finally responded with their first field goal of the half almost four minutes in, which came in the form of another three-pointer from Morissette.
  • That made three by Morissette flipped a switch for the Hawks, who then went on a 13-2 scoring surge where they held the Golden Knights to just one field goal in over five and a half minutes of game action. Arbuckle and Taylor each knocked down another triple apiece during that stretch.
  • Arbuckle started to take over on offense for Saint Anselm after that point. The fifth-year guard scored seven straight for the Hawks in less than two minutes, extending his team's lead to 62-44 with 9:16 to play and forcing a Saint Rose timeout.
  • The Golden Knights cut the deficit back down to 13 points, but Morissette buried another three and senior Jadon Archer (Enfield, Conn.) followed that up by scoring consecutive shots within the paint to pump the margin back up to a comfortable 16 points.
  • Saint Rose was held to just one made field goal in the final three and a half minutes and the Hawks coasted to an 18-point victory.
