Strong shooting from D'Youville's Aliviya Vallone Russell would bring the game back within a possession, 9-11 in favor of the home team. Saint Anselm would close the quarter with a four-point advantage off of a buzzer beating floater from Katie Lemanski (Haymarket, Va.).
- The Saints would continue to shoot the ball well to open the second quarter as Russell would go three for three from the charity stripe. D'Youville would bring the game within one point as Anna Jankovic would cash in from the baseline. A 7-0 Saint Anselm run highlighted by pair of buckets by freshman Addisen Sulikowski (Saco, Maine) would stump the Saints comeback. Halfway through the quarter the Hawks would take a double-digit lead forcing the visitors into a timeout. Saint Anselm found their biggest lead at 12 with Lemanski floating an offensive rebound back in for a score. To end the half the Hawks would give up one last bucket but maintain a 10-point lead going into halftime.
- D'Youville opened the second half bringing the game within six and Jankovic began to heat up on the boards. Senior Melanie Hoyt (Stamford, N.Y.) responded for the Hawks off of a feed from Tatum Forbes (Pawtucket, R.I.). Halfway through the quarter freshman Avery Romps (Greenland, N.H.) took her turn of a hot hand, cashing in from deep to extend the Saint Anselm lead 47-35. The third would come to a close with a Saints run which brought the game within seven.
- The final quarter of action would prove to be the most challenging for the Hawks as the Saints would slowly battle their way back into the game. Jankovic would go on a 5-0 run herself before feeding teammate Allie Hall to take their first lead of the afternoon with 7 minutes of action remaining. Sulikowski would interrupt their run tallying another bucket from deep off of a feed from Hoyt.
