MANCHESTER, N.H. – A 17-10 scoring edge in the game's final stanza proved to be the difference as the Saint Anselm women's basketball team survived a buzzer-beating scare and picked up a 57-55 victory over the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Saint Micheal's led for much of the game, leading by as many as 10 points in the third quarter.
- Saint Anselm outscored the Purple Knights 17-10 in the final stanza.
- With 1:30 remaining, Addisen Sulikowski (Saco, Maine) hit a clutch three-point basket, pulling the Hawks to within one, 54-53.
- Melanie Hoyt's hook shot with 1:09 remaining pushed the Hawks in front for good, 55-54. MacNair and Hoyt each knocked down a free-throw in the final minute to keep the Purple Knights at bay.
- With time winding down, the Purple Knight's had a flurry of shots, including a near buzzer-beater that went in but was waved off, giving Saint Anselm the narrow victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Melanie Hoyt (Stamford, N.Y.) led the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds, achieving her first double-double of the season and third of her career.
- Elise MacNair (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) added 12 points, hitting 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
- Brianna Furch led Saint Michael's with 21 points, shooting 9-of-22 from the field.
- Amber Furch contributed 12 points, including a 6-of-7 performance from the free-throw line for the Purple Knights.
- Saint Anselm forced 16 turnovers on the evening, five in the fourth quarter.
