SHELTON, Conn. – The comeback attempt for the Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team came up just short on Friday evening against Post as the Hawks fell to the Eagles by a final score of 4-3. Three different players scored goals for the Hawks despite the loss.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Saint Anselm doubled up Post in shots on goal during the game, 48-24. The Hawks registered double digit shot totals in every period, including 17 in the first and 18 in the second.
- The Hawks scored the opening goal in the first period before three unanswered goals by the Eagles before intermission. Saint Anselm cut the deficit to 3-2 in the second before both teams scored once in the third.
- Post held a huge advantage at the faceoff dot by winning 45 out of 76 draws (59.2 percent), while Saint Anselm went 31 of 76 (40.8 percent).
- Senior Max Burum (Marshfield, Mass.) led Saint Anselm with 11 faceoff wins out of 27 attempts (40.7 percent).
- On the defensive side, the Eagles blocked 30 shots in the game, while the Hawks blocked seven. Seven eagles blocked two shots or more in the contest.
- Saint Anselm went 1-2 on the power play and posted four shots on goal during the man advantage. Post went 1-3 on the power play and fired seven shots on goal.
- Burum, senior Hunter Brackett (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), and sophomore Patrick DeMarinis (Manasquan, N.J.) each scored a goal for the Hawks. Senior Will van der Veen (Duxbury, Mass.) added two assists.
- Jacob Howell, Baxter Kimball, Hugh McGuigan, and Parker Norling each scored once for the Eagles.
- Junior goaltender Tucker Hanson (Boxford, Mass.) made 20 saves in goal for the Hawks in the loss, while Benjamin Cunneen made 45 stops in the win for the Eagles.
- This marked the 19th all-time meeting between Saint Anselm and Post. The Hawks fall to 15-3-1 against the Eagles in the series that began in 2017.
