Women's Tennis Sweeps American International, 7-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College women's tennis team picked up a Northeast-10 conference win on Saturday after sweeping American International, 7-0.
 

 UP NEXT:
  • Saint Anselm hosts conference opponent Franklin Pierce on Saturday, October 12th at 1:30 p.m. for Senior Day. Hawks seniors Abigail Svor (Lewiston, Maine), Julia Svor (Lewiston, Maine), and Erin Motherway (Stonington, Conn.) will be honored prior to the matches.


HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Saint Anselm started the match hot by winning all three double matches highlighted by the No. 1 doubles pair of juniors Irene Garbo (Assemini, Sardinia, Italy) and Natalia Gonzalez Ramos (Guadalajara, Spain) winning, 6-3.
  • In singles action, Garbo continued her impressive season at No. 1 singles by winning in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.
  • At the No. 5 singles slot, freshman Alyssa Conley (Windham, Maine) also won in straight sets by a 6-0, 6-1 final score.
  • The Hawks won in all four of the remaining singles slots to sweep the Yello Jackets by a final score of 7-0.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Garbo picked up her tenth win at No. 1 singles and improved to a 10-0 record on the season. She is also 5-5 on the year in No. 1 doubles.
  • Conley improved to 4-4 in singles action this fall.
