HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Saint Anselm took control early with back-to-back penalty corners in the first minute of the game. Davis, Lewandowski, and Sutton-Brown each posted a shot attempt off of those corners.
- Just over seven minutes in, Sutton-Brown opened the scoring by tapping home a rebound that came off of Lions goaltender Kayla Lipscomb to give the Hawks a 1-0 advantage.
- Saint Anselm maintained possession throughout the next four-minutes and registered four more shots on goal. Lipscomb came up with big saves to keep her team down by just a goal.
- The Hawks broke through again before the end of the first quarter, scoring off a penalty corner with Lewandowski setting up Davis, who slammed her shot into the back of the cage to make it 2-0.
- Despite the first few minutes of action in the second quarter taking place in the midfield, Saint Anselm earned the first scoring opportunity with a penalty corner at the 18:32 mark. Davis fired it into play, which led to junior Maggie Burchill (Braintree, Mass.) finding herself in the perfect position to score off of a deflected pass, making it 3-0.
- Five more shots came from the Hawks before they took a 4-0 advantage courtesy of a goal by sophomore Laurentien van den Akker (Geldrop, The Netherlands).
- Before the half came to an end, Saint Anselm picked up one more score after freshman Ruby Reid (Fitchburg, Mass.) finished off a rebound with two minutes remaining.
- Molloy created their only scoring chance of the game in the third quarter, but the shot by Devin Harkins bounced wide of the cage off a penalty corner. Saint Anselm responded with two shots at the other end by freshman Leila Haertel (Mannheim, Germany), but both went wide.
- The Hawks dominated the final 15 minutes of play with five more penalty corners to go along with four more shot attempts. Rayfield, Reid, and freshman Sophie Smith (Yarmouth, Maine) all put shots on goal, but Lions goaltender Kayla Balsamo did well to make all three stops.
