MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's soccer team earned a hard-fought point after a scoreless draw against New Haven, the second place team in the Northeast-10 Conference, on Wednesday afternoon. Junior goalkeeper
David Hood (Manchester, N.H.) made four saves and helped the Hawks pick up their third shutout in the last four matches. Saint Anselm, who has put together a five game unbeaten streak, remains in the NE10 playoff picture and holds sixth place in the current league table.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- New Haven's Daniel Ehlin fired the first shot of the game, but it was saved by Saint Anselm junior goalkeeper David Hood (Manchester, N.H.).
- The Chargers continued their offensive attack with eight unanswered shots as well as three corner kicks. Hood made a diving stop to his left to deny a Pau Santanach header in the 16th minute.
- Saint Anselm closed the first half with their first shots of the afternoon, both coming from the foot of senior Lucas Bravo Ollé (Sitges, Barcelona, Spain), but neither were on target.
- In the first 20 minutes of the second half, the two teams combined for six corner kicks. The Hawks earned four of those corners, but neither team was able to produce a shot or scoring chance.
- With under 15 minutes remaining, Adam Lindstrom of New Haven and senior Michael Provenzano (Stratham, N.H.) of Saint Anselm traded shots on goal with both goalkeepers making saves to keep the game scoreless.
- A flurry of chances came in the final five minutes of the match. Junior Kyle Myers (Medway, Mass.) put a strike on frame for the Hawks, but it was collected by Chargers goalkeeper Archie Watts.
- With 30 seconds to play, Mattia Maiello headed a shot towards goal, but Hood made a stellar play and deflected the ball up and over the cross-bar as the game ended in a scoreless draw.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- New Haven held a 13-6 advantage in total shot attempts as well as a 4-2 lead in shots on goal.
- The Chargers finished the match with six corner kicks compared to four for the Hawks.
- New Haven was called for 14 fouls, while Saint Anselm was whistled for nine fouls. There were five yellow cards issued in the game with the Chargers earning three and the Hawks earning two.
- Hood made four saves and earned his third clean sheet of the season in goal for the Hawks. Watts made two saves in goal for the Chargers.
- This marked the 21st all-time meeting between Saint Anselm and New Haven. The Hawks are now 9-7-5 against the Chargers in the series that began in 1997. The Hawks are undefeated in their last three matchups against the Chargers.
