HOW IT HAPPENED:
- DiGilio opened the scoring for Saint Anselm just over four minutes in. Senior Sydney Wnek (Haverhill, Mass.) whipped in a cross from the left wing that found DiGilio on the back side of the box. DiGilio's left-footed volley bounced off the left post before crossing the goal line to make it a 1-0 game.
- Less than 10 minutes later, the Hawks doubled their advantage. Wnek received a pass from senior Josie Pecor (Williston, Vt.) at the top of the box, created separation to shoot, and fired a shot into the lower left corner.
- Saint Anselm continued their offensive attack in the following minutes with two more shots. Senior Allison Silverstein (Concord, N.H.) put a shot on frame for the Hawks, but it was saved by Greyhounds goalkeeper Frida Larsson.
- In the 23rd minute, Delaney Farinha registered the first shot on target for Assumption, but Saint Anselm freshman goalkeeper Samantha Swidorski (Woodbury, Minn.) made her first save of the afternoon.
- The home team started to generate some momentum towards the end of the half with four shots on goal over the final 20 minutes, but Swidorski was able to keep the clean sheet, as well as her team's 2-0 lead, intact at halftime.
- The Hawks created several scoring opportunities early in the second half and were able to finish in the 55th minute. Freshman Meghan Deneen (Marlborough, Mass.) lofted a free kick into the box from just over midfield. The ball bounced towards DiGilio, who blasted a right-footed shot into the side netting and made it 3-0.
- Junior Zarina Pinto (Groveland, Mass.) increased Saint Anselm's lead to 4-0 with a quality strike 10 minutes later. Sophomore Cait Mullins (Marblehead, Mass.) served a cross that Pinto collected at the top of the box. She then spun on to her left foot and ripped a shot that beat the goalkeeper high and landed just underneath the cross-bar.
- The Hawks put one more goal up in the 74th minute. After intercepting a pass from the Greyhounds goalkeeper, junior Madison DiNapoli (North Reading, Mass.) dribbled towards goal. Her right-footed shot took a deflection off a defender and made its way into the back of the net, making it 5-0.
- Swidorski made one more save in the final minute of action as Saint Anselm earned the dominant 5-0 road win.
