HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Bentley had the upper hand in terms of scoring opportunities in the first 20 minutes of the match. The Falcons fired off four shot attempts during that span including three by Abi Hennessey. One of those shots required saving by Saint Anselm freshman goaltender Samantha Swidorski (Woodbury, Minn.).
- Swidorski was forced to make another stop in the 26th minute, denying a shot on goal from Bentley's Sydney DeRoche.
- Senior Josie Pecor (Williston, Vt.) fired the first shot attempt of the game for Saint Anselm shortly after, but it was off target. The Falcons did not allow the Hawks to take a shot for the remainder of the first half.
- Bentley closed the half with six shot attempts and three corner kicks over the final 15 minutes of play. Megan Daly ripped three of those shots and put one on goal for the Falcons, but two more saves by Swidorski saw the first half end with a 0-0 score.
- Saint Anselm came out of halftime with a sense of urgency and outshot Bentley, 5-1, out of the break. Fifth-year Tara McCleary (Quincy, Mass.) and seniors Riley DiGilio (Danvers, Mass.), Erin Rutherford (Ashburnham, Mass.), and Sydney Wnek (Haverhill, Mass.) each put shots toward goal for the Hawks, but they were all saved by Falcons goalkeeper Claire Ewen.
- DeRoche responded with a pair of shots on frame for Bentley, but Swidorski came up with two more stops.
- The Hawks took full control in the final 10 minutes with four more shots and a corner kick. DiGilio had one final strike in the 89th minute, but neither side ended up finding the back of the net as the game ended in a scoreless draw.
