HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The first and only scoring drive came for the Saint Anselm Hawks in the very first minute of play on Tuesday, as fifth year Maddie Davis (Exeter, N.H.) would step up to take a penalty corner feeding teammate Chloe Kapsambelis (Merrimack, N.H.). On the Kapsambelis shot, a save from Joelle Cameron would bounce back towards Davis, who would immediately place the ball in the back of the cage. In the second quarter of play the Hawks would find three shots on target with two off-target. The Hawks would continue to relentlessly attack the Purple Knights defensive line and keeper.
  • In the second half of play the Hawks would quickly earn an offensive strike with a penalty corner taken by Davis. Davis would take the next few minutes to take three shots on the Purple Knights keeper. Continuing to keep the pressure on Saint Anselm would string together eight more shots in the quarter. In the final period of play the Hawks would begin to the beat of the same drum, taking a penalty corner in the first thirty seconds. Cameron remained strong in net for Saint Michael's continuing to reject shots on her cage. In the 51st minute the Hawks would have their first big scoring opportunity as a shot from Marissa Politano (Acton, Mass.) would get past the keeper, but was rejected in a clutch defensive save from Kathleen Dean. The Purple Knights would have their first offensive look of the second half in the 59th minute of action as a shot from Bridgie Loughlin would be blocked by the Hawks team.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Saint Anselm totaled 29 shots with 20 coming on goal. Saint Michael's tallied three shots in the action time with none on goal.

  • The Saint Anselm offensive strike rested solely on Davis's shoulders on the evening, scoring the Hawks lone goal.
  • Senior goaltender Sidney Falterer (Fairfield, Conn.) faced three shots but had to make no saves in her shutout of the Purple Knights team.
