NEW CASTLE, Del. – The Saint Anselm College women's bowling team earned three more wins on Sunday to finish the Bud Whitman Memorial with a record of 5-4. It is the first time in program history that the Hawks have completed a tournament with a winning record.

The Hawks made progress on day two of the event, averaging a score of 188.4 across 26 baker games bowled. The team bowled seven games with a score of 200 or better.

Saint Anselm first took down Felician, 872-735, before defeating Wilmington in a tight 889-885 affair. They were tripped up by both Fairleigh Dickinson, 907-931, and Howard in a best-of-seven, 4-3. However, the Hawks wrapped up the tournament with a 4-0 sweep of Coppin State to secure the winning record.

"We got off to a great start with our new bowlers gaining experience," said head coach Tim Frye '11. "We have areas we need to clean up before heading off to Orlando, but this was an excellent base to start our season.
