Liv Robles (Wallingford, Conn.) and sophomore
Tatum Forbes (Pawtucket, R.I.) combined for 40 points on the way to a 61-47 home victory for the Saint Anselm College women's basketball team against Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The home team got out to a strong start with baskets on their first three possessions. Robles, Forbes, and sophomore Gina Gaccione (Rutherford, N.J.) all scored from inside the paint to help the Hawks open up an early 6-2 lead.
- About halfway through the first quarter, junior Melanie Hoyt registered her first points of the game following an inbound pass underneath the basket by junior Katie Lemanski (Haymarket, Va.) to make it a 10-7 game with the Hawks still in front.
- After being held scoreless for about three minutes of game time, Forbes banked in the first three of the game for Saint Anselm from the top of the key and the Hawks finished the first quarter with a 15-11 lead.
- Forbes connected on a midrange pull-up to at the beginning of the second, but the Hawks would not score again until almost four minutes later when Forbes turned the corner and got to the basket for two. The sophomore guard also drilled a three pointer just before the buzzer to give Saint Anselm a 29-21 advantage at halftime. 21 points allowed by the Hawks defense is their second-least points allowed in any first half this season.
- Saint Anselm continued to excel at the defensive end to begin the second half, forcing three Saint Michael's turnovers including a shot clock violation during the first four Purple Knight possessions.
- Scoring eight points individually in the third quarter was Hoyt, including a pair of spinning hook shots that helped the Hawks extend their lead to 46-33 going into the fourth.
- With 7:52 to play in the game, Robles provided another offensive spark for the home team by finishing a layup and then cashing in from long distance to push the margin up to 14 points. The fifth-year sealed the game down the stretch, scoring nine of the team's 15 fourth quarter points to lead Saint Anselm to the double-digit win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Saint Anselm shot very well from the floor, making 24 out of 46 shots (52.2%) while Saint Michael's was not as efficient and only made 19 of their 48 attempts (39.6%) from the field. Both teams only made three three-point field goals in the game.
- The Hawks held the edge in rebounding, 31-25. The visitors committed 16 turnovers compared to 13 by the Hawks, with both teams registering five steals.
- Saint Anselm also led the game in points in the paint, 34-26, but had just three bench points compared to 13 for Saint Michael's.
- Forbes finished with a game-high 21 points (7-12 FG, 2-2 3FG, 5-8 FT) for the Hawks, while Robles added 19 points of her own (9-14 FG, 1-4 3FG). Hoyt was the only other Saint Anselm player in double-figure scoring with 10 to go along with six rebounds. Lemanski grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and dished out three assists.
- Amber Furch and Ruby Santos combined for 27 points to lead the Purple Knights.
- This marked the 84th all-time meeting between these two programs. Saint Anselm improves to 60-24 overall against Saint Michael's.
