MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's volleyball team dropped a match, 3-1, on Saturday to Bentley University during a Northeast-10 Conference clash. The Falcons handed the Hawks their first conference loss of the season by set scores of 25-21, 25-19, 25-23, 25-22.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks stared the first set ahead 3-1 with sophomore Abigail Macalaguim (Chula Vista, Calif.), senior Kaitlin Brown (Glendale, Ariz), and senior Emma Adams (Gary, Texas) each tallying a kill apiece. Freshman Hollyn Frano (Cave Creek, Ariz.) notched a couple of kills to help further Saint Anselm's advantage to 7-4. Bentley strung together four consecutive kills midway through the set featuring two kills from Caitlin Wunder to give Bentley the first led of the match. Both teams continued to exchange points until the Falcons were able to pull away late thanks to a 5-1 run to claim the first set win by a score of 25-21.
- In the second set, Bentley took the early 6-1 advantage with Ingrid Murphy posting a kill and two aces. The Falcons shortly after went on a 6-0 run to extend their lead to 13-4. Senior Audrey Wetjen (Henderson, Nev.) and Brown both recorded a kill to help disrupt Bentley's momnetum. Later in the set, Frano fired off five kills in a row for the Hawks to make it 21-16, but the Falcons would secure the 25-19 victory in set two.
- Once again, Bentley jumped ahead to a 5-1 lead to start the third set. Saint Anselm responded by generating a 6-1 run highlighted by three kills from Frano and one kill from Wetjen to take a 7-6 edge. A 7-2 run started after a service error by Bentley helped further Saint Anselm advantage to 16-10. The Falcons kept the score close late in the set however the Hawks would seal the 25-23 victory and force the match into a fourth set.
- Points were exchanged early in the fourth set unlike the previous two with Adams and Frano each picking up a kill apiece. Murphy's kill would give Bentley an 8-7 lead before Saint Anselm answered with a 3-1 run completed by a kill from Frano to go ahead 10-9. Wetjen tallied a kill to make 15-14 Hawks and a service ace from sophomore Skylar Ryan (Channahon, Ill.) gave Saint Anselm the 18-15 advantage. After Murphy tied it up at 19-19, the Falcons would control the set winning six of the remaining nine points, winning the set 25-22, and claiming the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Frano led the Hawks with 17 kills along with three digs and two service aces.
- Brown ended the day with nine kills, nine digs, two assists, and two blocks and Ryan tallied a season-high three services aces in the match.
- On the passing effort, Macalaguim tallied 36 assists for Saint Anselm while also recording two kills, 15 digs, one ace, and a block.
- Defensively, Belmontez registered 22 digs for the second time this season and Adams registered a season-high five total blocks.
