NEW ORLEANS – On Tuesday, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the preseason edition of the NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country Regional Rankings for the 2023 season featuring the Saint Anselm College women's cross country team.
The Hawks check in as the No. 3 team in the East Region, up five spots from the team's final regional ranking in 2022. Southern New Hampshire secured the top spot in the region, the only Northeast-10 program ahead of Saint Anselm. Southern Connecticut State captured fourth while Saint Michael's College, American International College, Adelphi University, and Franklin Pierce University rounded out the East Region preseason poll.
Last year at the NCAA Division II East Region Championship, Saint Anselm posted one of their best finishes after capturing fifth place out of 19 teams. The Hawks have placed no lower than ninth at the East Region Championship for the last four seasons.
Saint Anselm opens its 2023 campaign at the 41st Annual Shacklette Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 2, starting at 10:00 a.m. on the South Athletic Fields.
