The Hawks dropped an NE10 battle to No. 2 nationally-ranked Pace University by an 18-7 score on Apr. 15, marking the team's most recent contest. The loss dropped the Hawks to 9-3 on the season with a 5-3 record in conference play. After hosting the Chargers on Saturday, Saint Anselm will head to Bentley University on Wednesday, Apr. 26 before hosting the College of Saint Rose on Saturday, Apr. 29 for Senior Day and the team's regular season finale.
The Ravens outlasted American International College on Apr. 15, posting a 20-17 win over the Yellow Jackets. The win moved Franklin Pierce to 3-10 on the season and 2-7 in conference play. Franklin Pierce will remain at home to host both Pace and Adelphi University on Saturday, Apr. 22 and Wednesday, Apr. 26 to close out the regular season.
The Chargers collected their fourth consecutive win on Apr. 16 as they downed Southern New Hampshire University by a 22-18 score. The team is now 8-5 overall with a 5-3 mark in conference play. Before making the trip to the Queen City, New Haven will head to Assumption on Wednesday, Apr. 19.
HAWKS NOTES
- Saint Anselm moved up to No. 17 Monday's edition of the ILWomen/IWLCA Division II National Poll which is their highest ranking in the poll of the 2023 season.
- Saturday's contest against the Chargers will be the 350th in the history of the women's lacrosse program. Saint Anselm, entering play on Tuesday, owns a 166-181-1 record all-time.
- Junior Jess Sullivan (Wrentham, Mass.) leads the Hawks roster with 53 points. She is tied for the team lead with 34 goals and is second in assists at 19. Sullivan is tied for seventh in the NE10 in points.
- Sullivan ranks 14th all-time in career points at 133, trailing senior Taylor Cobain (East Greenwich, R.I.) by four points for 13th. Cobain needs just two points to surpass Annie Richards '22 for 12th in career points.
- Cobain is second on the team at 51 points on 24 goals and 27 assists. The senior is fourth on the team in goals and leads the Hawks in helpers. When compared to the NE10, Cobain ranks third in assists and 13th in points.
- Senior Lexi Palmisano (Woburn, Mass.) is tied with Sullivan for the top spot on the roster in goals with 34. She has added 10 assists which brings her to 44 points in 2023.
- Junior Alison Ferullo (North Andover, Mass.) is third on the squad with 30 goals. She has been credited with a pair of helpers to bring her to 32 points through 12 games this season.
- Junior Erin Doyle (Weymouth, Mass.) is the Hawks leader with 26 ground balls while sitting in a tie for the top spot in caused turnovers with Palmisano at 16.
- Palmisano leads the Hawks with 68 draw controls this season. In her career, the senior is second all-time with 179 draw controls. She trails Head Coach Meghan Smith '12 who grabbed a program record 372 in her time as a student-athlete on the Hilltop.
- Sophomore Elizabeth Driscoll (Marblehead, Mass.) leads the conference with a 0.543 save percentage while ranking second with an 8.25 goals-against average. Driscoll has made 107 saves this season which is fifth-best in the NE10.
SCOUTING FRANKLIN PIERCE
- Katelyn Hadden leads the Ravens offense with 46 points coming from 27 goals and 19 assists. Hadden is second on the roster in goals while leading in assists.
- Kayli Hoefs has netted a team-high 30 goals and added nine assists, which is second on the squad, to total 39 points, which is also second on the team.
- Gabrielle Oswald (23), Olivia DeLonais (15), Emily Ulmer (16), and Hayley Hermsdorf (12) all have double-digit goals for Franklin Pierce this season.
- Hadden and Erin Blake are tied for the team lead with 21 ground balls this season. Amelia D'Urso has caused a team-high 17 turnovers in 2023.
- Hadden also leads Franklin Pierce with 57 draw controls. Hoefs and Rachel Taylor are second and third respectively with 35 and 34 each.
- Blake has started in 12 of 13 games for Franklin Pierce this season from the cage. Blake owns a 17.68 goals-against average and a 0.408 save percentage, totaling a league-high 131 saves.
SCOUTING NEW HAVEN
- The Chargers moved to No. 20 in the ILWomen/IWLCA Division II National Poll, up two spots from 22 in the most recent release.
- Raegan Bailey and Savannah Ernst are tied for the Chargers lead and with Sullivan for seventh in the NE10 at 53 points. Bailey and Ernst have scored 38 goals and posted 15 assists each this season.
- Marielle Colalillo is third on the roster in goals at 21 and in points at 29. Gianna Caprioli follows closely with 16 goals and 22 points.
- Caitlin Seleny ranks third on the Chargers with 12 helpers. She has netted six goals, bringing her to 18 points on the season.
- Caprioli and Gabby Buscemi are tied for the New Haven lead with 29 ground balls apiece. Caprioli has caused a team-high 19 turnovers and leads the Chargers with 61 draw controls.
- Buscemi has started all 13 games in the cage for the Chargers. She has made 125 saves, which is second in the conference and owns a 0.466 save percentage which is fourth. Buscemi has an 11.52 goals-against average this season.
ALL-TIME vs. FRANKLIN PIERCE, NEW HAVEN
- This will be the 23rd meeting in the all-time series between the Hawks and Ravens in women's lacrosse. Saint Anselm is 18-4 against Franklin Pierce in the series.
- Saint Anselm extended its current winning streak to six games with a 12-10 win over the Franklin Pierce on Apr. 20, 2022, marking the most recent meeting between the sides in the series.
- The Chargers are 17-5 all-time against the Hawks in women's lacrosse, making Saturday's matchup the 23rd in the series.
