COLCHESTER, Vt. – The nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse soared to a 17-11 win over Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday evening.
With the win, the Hawks, who are ranked No. 10 in the most recent United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division II National Poll, extend their winning streak to five games and move to 7-2 on the season with 6-2 record in conference play. The Purple Knights, who are receiving votes in the same poll, drop to 5-5 overall and 2-5 in NE10 contests.
Junior
Noah Larsen (Northborough, Mass.) netted a game-high four goals and added an assist for five points. Larsen netted his 50th career goal in the contest.

Jack Andrews (Cumberland, R.I.) and
Jack Robinson (Wilbraham, Mass.), sophomore
Joe Lombardi (Holliston, Mass.), and freshman
Chris Claflin (Newton, Mass.) registered two goals apiece.
Noah Larsen netted the game's opening goal just 1:19 into the contest but
Sebastian Simonson answered for Saint Michael's just 1:28 later to knot the score at one. Andrews regained the Hawks lead at 10:16 and the Purple Knights tied the score once more with 4:00 left in the opening quarter.
Saint Anselm, on goals from Robinson and Claflin, would end the first quarter in front by a 4-2 score after the duo netted one goal each in the final minute of the opening 15 minutes of play.
The sides traded a pair of goals each midway through the second quarter but three goals in the final 6:53 of the second gave Saint Anselm a 9-4 lead at the half. Robinson, Lombardi, and Claflin all found the back of the cage on that stretch.
The Hawks wasted little time adding to their lead as senior
Craig Yannone (Lynnfield, Mass.) won the opening faceoff of the third quarter and found the back of the goal just eight seconds into play.
Nick Larsen extended the Hawks scoring streak to five with a goal at 13:10 which pushed the Saint Anselm lead to seven at 11-4.
After a goal by
Dylan Morgan, Saint Anselm rattled off three consecutive goals in the third quarter, including a man-up goal from Lombardi at 8:16. Saint Michael's tallied a pair of goals, sandwiched around a second extra-man score for the Hawks, this one coming from Andrews, as the teams headed to the fourth with the Hawks in front, 15-7.
The Purple Knights opened the fourth with consecutive goals but those were answered by
Noah Larsen and
Nick Larsen to keep the Hawks lead at eight. However, Saint Michael's would find a pair of goals just 21 seconds apart to push the score to its eventual final of 17-11, in favor of Saint Anselm.
Senior
David Olsen (Salem, N.H.) made five saves in three quarters of action with junior
Anthony Kubik (Chicago, Ill.) closing down the contest with one save in 15 minutes of fourth quarter action.
Yannone was 14-of-23 from the faceoff "X" in the game with freshman
Quinn Gannon (Scituate, Mass.) grabbing four wins. Yannone led the Hawks with 10 ground balls and surpassed the 200 mark for his career, becoming just the third student-athlete in program history to do so.
Senior
Ethan Dolan (Littleton, Mass.) matched a career-high with four caused turnovers while setting a new career-best with five ground balls. As a team, Saint Anselm was credited with 11 caused turnovers and scooped up 46 ground balls.
The Hawks held a 47-28 advantage in shot attempts including a 29-17 edge in shots on goal. Saint Anselm was successful in 21-of-22 clear attempts while Saint Michael's was 17-for-21. The Hawks were two-for-four in extra man opportunities.
Saint Anselm will be back in action on Wednesday, Apr. 19 with their final road game of the regular season. The Hawks will meet the Setters of Pace University for a 3:30 p.m. opening faceoff from Pleasantville, N.Y.
