Women's tennis drops exhibition match to Atlantis

MIAMI, Fla. - The Saint Anselm College women's tennis team opened its spring 2023 slate with an exhibition contest against Atlantis University in Miami, Fla. on Wednesday afternoon.

The Hawks came up short in the match, falling by a final margin of 7-0.

It was the second matchup between the two programs, with Saint Anselm having played at Atlantis just over one year ago during its Florida swing on Mar. 13, 2022.

Three new doubles tandems took the court for the Hawks, with the sister duo of sophomores Abigail Svor (Lewiston, Maine) and Julia Svor (Lewiston, Maine) posting Saint Anselm's best result at No. 2 doubles (3-6).

In singles action, freshman Camila Heredia Osante (Oaxaca, Mexico) made her debut at the top position, where she was downed by Lajla Cemalovic, 6-1, 6-1.

Saint Anselm played well and managed to win several games across all the singles matches, but Atlantis would prevail in each of the six contests.

The team returns to action on Thursday, Mar. 23 at 12 p.m., when the Hawks visit Nova Southeastern University, a program currently ranked No. 5 in the NCAA Division II/ITA women's tennis national rankings.
