Women's tennis falls to No. 2 Nova Southeastern

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Saint Anselm College women's tennis team fell to nationally-ranked Nova Southeastern University, 7-0, to conclude the team's spring Florida trip on Thursday.

With the loss, Saint Anselm drops to 4-10 on the 2022-23 season while the Sharks, who are ranked No. 2 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Team poll, improve to 12-2 on their season.

This was the first all-time meeting between Saint Anselm and Nova Southeastern in women's tennis.

After doubles action, during which Saint Anselm was swept 6-0 in all three contests, the Hawks played well across the No. 1 through No. 6 singles matches. However, the squad earned games at only the No. 4 and No. 6 slots.

In doubles action, the Hawks No. 1 doubles tandem of freshman Camila Heredia Osante (Oaxaca, Mexico) and sophomore Olivia Parzick (Bow, N.H.) squared off with the top-ranked doubles pair nationally, Natalie Espinal and Fatima Bizhukova.

In singles play, sophomore Julia Casaletto (Rowley, Mass.) was downed 6-1, 6-0 by Nova Southeastern's Kayla Solagnier, with sophomore Abigail Svor (Lewiston, Mass.) losing by the same score in the day's final match to Kashmira Manohar.

The Hawks will be back in action on Tuesday, Apr. 4 at Holy Cross. Saint Anselm's final road match of the 2022-23 season is slated for a 4 p.m. start from Worcester, Mass.
