The Hawks posted a pair of wins over Saint Michael's College on Feb. 3 and Feb. 4 to improve to 16-9-2 on the season and 11-5-2 in Northeast-10 Conference play. Saint Anselm will conclude its regular season with three games starting on Tuesday, Feb. 14 against NCAA Division I Stonehill College, which is the home regular season finale for the Hawks. That tilt is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
The AMCATS skated to a 5-3 win over Assumption University on Feb. 7 which brings them to 10-13-1 on the season. Following the regular season finale for Anna Maria, the team will battle in the GNAC Commissioner's Cup to close the 2022-23 season.
The Raiders fell to Fitchburg State University on Feb. 7, dropping to 6-14-2 overall, and will head to Southern New Hampshire University on Friday, Feb. 10 before hosting the Hawks on Saturday. The team concludes the regular season against Post University on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
HAWKS NOTES
- Senior co-captain Matt Hayes (Salem, N.H.) leads the Hawks with 22 points, coming from seven goals and 15 assists.
- Senior co-captain Andrew Andary (Macomb, Mich.) and senior co-alternate captain Jack Murphy (Marshfield, Mass.) are tied for second on the roster with 20 points apiece. Andary has netted a team-high 11 goals while Murphy has a team-best 17 assists.
- Murphy was named the NE10 Player of the Week after netting three goals and assisting on two others for five points in a 2-0-1 week for the Hawks. Murphy netted the overtime game-winning goal against the Purple Knights on Saturday.
- The Hawks roster has 10 other student-athletes who have recorded double-digit points this season.
- Senior netminder Nick Howard (Burlington, Mass.) ranks fourth in program history with 34 wins and can tie Shane Joyce '18 for third all-time with two wins. Howard needs just three wins to join Jim Merola '75 and Tom Gavin '05 for most wins in program history at 37.
- Howard, who was named the NE10 Goaltender of the Week on Monday, leads the NE10 in goals-against average (2.57), save percentage (0.921), and in saves (719). Howard owns a 14-8-2 record this season in 24 starts.
- The Hawks power play has netted 14 goals in 92 chances, good for a 15.2% success rate. The penalty kill is operating at 85.3% after allowing 16 goals in 109 times shorthanded.
SCOUTING ANNA MARIA
- Matthew Byrne leads the AMCATS offense with 23 points. Byrne has scored eight goals, which are tied for second on the roster, and has assisted on a team-high 15 goals.
- Guillaume Coulombe is second on the team with 21 points. Coulombe has netted a roster-high nine goals and assisted on 12 others, which is tied for second.
- Braeden McKinnon has seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points. Cam Tobey is tied for second on the roster with eight goals this season and has assisted on nine others for 17 points.
- Cole Johnston and Aidan Richardson have appeared in 12 and 13 games each for the AMCATS this season. Johnston has a 3.47 goals-against average and a 0.901 save percentage while Richardson sits at a 2.25 goals-against average and a 0.934 save percentage.
- The Anna Maria power play has scored 21 goals in 99 chances, good for a 21.2% conversion rate. The team's penalty kill sits at 83.2% after allowing 16 goals in 95 times shorthanded.
SCOUTING RIVIER
- Jon Tavella leads the Raiders offense with 10 points. Tavella is third on the roster with five goals and is tied for second with five assists.
- Avery Arnold and Jack Tos are tied for the team lead with six goals apiece. Arnold is tied for second on the roster with eight points while Tos is fifth at seven.
- Logan Dapprich is the Raiders leader with six assists. Dapprich is tied with Arnold and Nicolas Paolucci for second on the squad with eight points.
- Luke Newell has made 16 appearances in the Raiders goal. Newell owns a 2.84 goals-against average and a 0.908 save percentage. Newell has totaled 446 saves this season.
- The Rivier power play is operating at 16.8%, recording 16 goals in 95 power play chances. The penalty kill has allowed 17 goals in 89 times shorthanded, good for an 80.9% penalty kill percentage.
ALL-TIME vs. ANNA MARIA, RIVIER
- The Hawks and AMCATS will be battling for the third time in the all-time series on Friday. Anna Maria is 2-0-0 against Saint Anselm in men's ice hockey.
- The programs battled on Nov. 20, 2021 with Anna Maria taking a 5-2 win in that meeting, marking the last meeting between the Hawks and AMCATS.
- Saint Anselm and Rivier will be playing for the second time on Saturday. The Hawks took the first meeting on Oct. 30, 2021 by a 4-1 score, which opened the 2021-22 season for Saint Anselm.
