MANCHESTER, N.H. – Seven members of the Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse program were selected to New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's Preseason All-New England teams last week.
Junior Noah Larsen (Northborough, Mass.) was one of three Division II attackmen selected to the list while brother Nick Larsen (Northborough, Mass.) joined senior Jack Andrews (Cumberland, R.I.) in the midfield.
Senior Ryan Slattery (North Andover, Mass.) and classmate Andrew Bonavita (Longmeadow, Mass.) captured two of the five slots on defense while Craig Yannone (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Will Harvey (Franklin, Mass.) were selected as the face-off specialist and short-stick defensive midfielder, respectively.
Noah Larsen, named to the Northeast-10 All-Championship squad, scored 17 goals with 13 assists for 38 points (17-13=30) in just 12 games and four starts. Posting at least one point per game last season, Larsen compiled eight goals and six assists for 15 points (8-6=15) in the last four games of the season, including three postseason contests.
Nick Larsen ranks fourth on the team with 40 points (18-22=40), recording a point in all but two games this season while ranking seventh in the NE10 with 1.57 assists per game. In the Hawks win over Bentley on Apr. 2, Larsen netted the game-winning goal with just eight seconds left in regulation to power Saint Anselm to a 14-13 victory.
Andrews was one of two Hawks in 2022 to score 40 or more goals, finishing with eight assists as well for 48 points (40-8=48). Just the seventh in team history to score 40 goals in a campaign, Andrews scored at least four goals in five games and logged at least one point in each of his last 22 career games since Apr. 24, 2021. He is just three points away from 100 in his career across just 34 career games on the Hilltop.
Slattery, a three-time Preseason All-America pick for the second consecutive season, was a two-time Defensive Player of the Year selection (USILA North Region, Northeast-10 Conference) in 2022. He led the squad with 26 caused turnovers, averaging 1.56 per game. Adding 40 ground balls for Saint Anselm, Slattery's 1.58 career caused turnovers per game (min. 20 games) is tops in team history.
Bonavita was a key piece to the Hawks defensive corps in 2022, drawing a start in all 16 games while picking up 21 ground balls. Adding 16 caused turnovers, he was part of a Saint Anselm collective unit that has picked up 34.12 ground balls per game, on average, to help the Hawks back to the NCAA postseason in 2022.
Yannone played in just seven games last season, winning 67 out of a possible 136 face-offs (49.3%). The year prior, he posted a 60.7% winning percentage (195-for-321) and boasts a 58.1% career rate on draws, leading all student-athletes in team history (min. 150 wins).
Harvey posted 23 ground balls with 11 caused turnovers, making just five turnovers across 16 games for the Hawks. In his 29-game career on the Hilltop, he has posted two goals and three assists for five points (2-3=5), totaling 35 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers.
Saint Anselm is set to open its season at home against Saint Rose on Wednesday, Mar. 1 in NE10 play.
