MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team is set for three games in its final week of the 2022-23 regular season.
The Hawks will host NCAA Division I Stonehill College in their regular season home finale on Tuesday, Feb. 14 before heading to in-state foe, Franklin Pierce University, on Friday, Feb. 17 and Saturday, Feb. 18.

The Hawks skated to a 3-3 tie at Anna Maria College on Feb. 10 before posting a 3-2 overtime win over Rivier University the following evening, improving to 17-9-2 on the season. Following the two-game series with the Ravens, the Hawks will enter the Northeast-10 Conference postseason. Saint Anselm is currently tied for the top spot with 34 points in the NE10 men's ice hockey standings.
The Skyhawks dropped a pair of games to Lindenwood University by 5-2 and 10-3 scores on Feb. 10 and Feb. 11. The team enters the contest at Sullivan Arena with a 15-6-2 record and will host Framingham State University on Saturday, Feb. 18 in its final game of the 2022-23 season.
The Ravens skated to a 4-3 win and a 3-3 tie on Feb. 10 and Feb. 11 at Post University, moving the team to 10-17-2 on the season and 7-9-2 in conference games. Franklin Pierce currently sits in fourth in the conference standings with 22 points.
HAWKS NOTES
- With the win over the Raiders, the Hawks collected their 17th win of the season which is the most since the 2017-18 season. Saint Anselm claimed the conference crown that season, marking their most recent conference championship in men's ice hockey.
- Sophomore Luke Mix (Winchester, Mass.) netted a pair of goals including the overtime game-winner on Saturday. Mix now has three goals and 10 assists for 13 points this season, all of which are career highs.
- Saint Anselm has four student-athletes with 20 or more points this season. Senior co-captain Matt Hayes (Salem, N.H.) leads the team with 23 points coming from seven goals and 16 assists while sophomore Chase Reynolds (Middletown, Conn.) and senior co-alternate captain Jack Murphy (Marshfield, Mass.) follow closely with 21 points apiece. Senior co-captain Andrew Andary (Macomb, Mich.) has a team-high 11 goals and has added nine assists for 20 points.
- Reynolds has scored 10 goals and assisted on 11 others while Murphy has three goals and 18 assists. Murphy is tied for second in the conference in assists.
- Nine other Saint Anselm student-athletes have reached the double-digit points mark this season, bringing the team total to 14 in 2022-23.
- Senior goaltender Nick Howard (Burlington, Mass.) holds the top spot in the NE10 in goals-against average (2.58), save percentage (0.922), and total saves (767). Howard stopped a career-high 48 shots in the tie against the AMCATS.
- In his career, Howard ranks fourth all-time in career wins at 34. With three wins, Howard can join Jim Merola '75 and Tom Gavin '05 for most wins in program history at 37. The senior has 1,846 saves, which is sixth most, and with 19 stops, Howard can tie Jim Mill '92 for fifth in team annals. Howard ranks second all-time in saves in a single season and need 58 saves to match Matt Delguidice who made 825 saves in the 1986-87 season.
- Saint Anselm has netted 16 goals in 99 power play chances, good for a 16.2% conversion rate. The Hawks hold the conference's best penalty kill rate at 83.8%, killing off 98 penalties in 117 times shorthanded.
SCOUTING STONEHILL
- Frank Ireland and Carter Rapalje lead the Skyhawks offense with 39 and 35 points each this season. Ireland has netted 13 goals, second most on the roster, and assisted on a team-high 26 goals while Rapalje leads the team with 20 goals and ranks fourth on the squad with 15 helpers.
- Dean Schwenninger is third on the roster with 29 points, coming from 10 goals and 19 assists. Schwenninger ranks third on the team in both categories.
- William Tripp is second on the squad with 21 assists. Tripp has netted one goal, bringing him to 22 points on the season which is fourth-best on the Skyhawks.
- Gavin FitzPatrick and John Day have started 12 games and 11 games each respectively in the Stonehill goal. FitzPatrick holds a 3.90 goals-against average and a 0.891 save percentage while Day has a 3.86 goals-against average and a 0.884 save percentage.
- The Stonehill power play is operating at 24.5%, scoring 25 goals in 102 power play chances. The penalty kill has allowed 25 goals in 108 times shorthanded, good for a 76.9% penalty kill rate.
SCOUTING FRANKLIN PIERCE
- Conor Foley leads the NE10 with 34 points. Foley has netted 16 goals and assisted on 18 others this season. Foley's 16 goals are the most in the conference while he is tied for second in the NE10 in assists.
- Chris Stevenson is second on the squad and in the conference with 29 points. Stevenson has scored 10 goals and assisted on a conference-high 19 others.
- Trevor Lawler, Cody Rumsey, and Stephen Jacobs all have more than 20 points this season for the Ravens.
- Rumsey was named the NE10 Player of the Week on Monday after scoring one goal and adding four assists in Franklin Pierce's 1-1-1 week.
- Kyle Martin has started 20 games in the goal for Franklin Pierce. Martin has a 3.08 goals-against average and a 0.917 save percentage. Martin ranks third in the NE10 in both categories.
- The Franklin Pierce power play has netted 25 goals in 108 chances, good for a league best 23.1% conversion rate. The penalty kill ranks fourth at 77.9%, allowing 31 goals in 140 times shorthanded.
ALL-TIME vs. STONEHILL, FRANKLIN PIERCE
- The Hawks and Skyhawks will be meeting for the 44th time on Tuesday and for the second time this season. Saint Anselm holds a 30-7-6 record against its former NE10 foe.
- On Jan. 14, Stonehill posted a 3-1 win from Sullivan Arena. In the last five meetings, four which have come from the Hilltop, Stonehill is 2-1-2 against Saint Anselm.
- Saint Anselm and Franklin Pierce will have battled 32 times in the all-time series following the weekend series. The Hawks enjoy a 25-4-1 against the Ravens.
- The programs last met on Jan. 31 which went down as a 1-1 tie. Earlier this season, the Hawks took game one of the four-game series by an 8-2 score.
