HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a scoreless first period, featuring 12 saves by Carroll, the Hawks struck first seven minutes into the second period on Colarusso's first goal of the season. After a scrum in the corner, the puck was jarred out to junior Will van der Veen (Duxbury, Mass.), who made a pass across the blue line to Colarusso, whose wrist shot from the point found the back of the net to give the Hawks the lead.
- After a barrage of shots from Saint Anselm in the middle of the period, Saint Anselm doubled their lead with three minutes remaining in the second. Grace collected the puck along the boards and had an immediate two-on-one opportunity in transition. Grace carried the puck into the zone and opted to shoot, resulting in his fourth goal of the year to make it 2-0. Van der Veen picked up his second assist of the game on the play.
- Following a power play to start the final period of play, Southern N.H. cut the deficit in half on a goal by Tucker Twardosky. Four minutes later, the Penmen capitalized on another man-advantage courtesy of a goal by Kurt Watson to tie the score.
- Southern N.H. continued to apply the pressure late in the final period of regulation, forcing Carroll to make 10 more saves. However, the game remained tied and headed to overtime.
- The extra frame consisted of plenty of opportunities for both teams, with Carroll needing to make four more saves and Penmen goaltender Sean Guerin needing to stop five shots, but the game would end in a 2-2 tie.
