WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Senior
Kaitlin Brown (Glendale, Ariz.) tallied 11 kills on Friday evening but it was not enough as the Chargers of the University of New Haven handed the Saint Anselm women's volleyball team a 3-0 defeat at Charger Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- New Haven jumped out to a 12-3 lead in the game's opening set. The Hawks would battle back, cutting the deficit to 23-21 late in the set, but the Chargers would close out for the 25-22 win.
- Saint Anselm jumped out to an early 6-1 advantage in the second and held a lead until the midway point when Assumption knotted the score at 13-13. After trading the lead back-and-forth, Assumption pulled in front with a 4-0 run at 19-19 to pull away, taking the second 25-21.
- In the third, the Hawks would again build an early lead, 8-4, but the host Chargers clawed their way back, tying the score at 11-11. Down the stretch, New Haven was able to again pull away, going on to the 25-21 victory and securing the 3-0 match win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Brown led the way with 38 total attack attempts, recording a team-high 11 kills. Melis Kocak (East Greenwich, R.I.) added seven kills on 21 attempts while Emma Adams (Gary, Tx.) chipped in six.
- Audrey Wetjen (Henderson, Nev.) added four kills to go with four blocks on the evening.
- Caroline Belmontez (San Diego, Calif.) had a team-high 17 digs to go with four assists.
- As a team the Hawks hit .129 on the evening.
