HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Saint Rose had a huge first half of offense, scoring four goals in the opening half hour of play. Mia Klammer scored the first two goals of the game, while her teammates Sydney Myers and Caitlin Wania also found the back of the net to give the Golden Knights an early 4-0 advantage.
  • Saint Anselm responded in a huge way, getting two goals of their own before the halftime whistle. Junior Riley DiGilio (Danvers, Mass.) got the Hawks on the board in the 32nd minute, cutting to her left foot and firing a strike into the side netting for her third goal of the year off a feed from junior Josie Pecor (Williston, Vt.). With less than three minutes to play in the first half, DiGilio found junior Allison Silverstein (Concord, N.H.) who fired a shot from the top of the box that beat Golden Knights goalkeeper Pia Bozic for her second goal of the season to cut the deficit to 4-2.
  • Saint Rose scored three more goals in the second half, with Klammer scoring two more times and Myers adding her second of the match for the Golden Knights. The highlight of the game came in the 54th minute when goalkeeper Peyton DeRouen, who entered the game to start the second half, punted the ball three quarters of the length of the field. The ball bounced over the Saint Anselm defense and was collected by Klammer, who cut back to her right foot and bent in a goal for the hat trick.
  • The Hawks had a few good scoring chances late in the match, but could not find the back of the net again and Saint Rose would cruise to a 7-2 victory to remain unbeaten.
