MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint Anselm College men's soccer team fell to Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference action by a final score of 4-0 on Saturday afternoon from Melucci Field.

- Saint Anselm is on the road for the next two games traveling to Colchester, Vt. first to take on Saint Michael's College in non-conference action for the Community Cup Game on Tuesday, October 10th.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Saint Anselm controlled the tempo early firing four of the game's first five shots and earning three corner kicks in the opening 25 minutes of the half. The Hawks had a scoring chance in the 25th minute when senior Josue Assantha (Bukavu, Democratic Republic of the Congo) clipped a pass behind the Bentley defense that reached classmate Zach Verow (Bedford, N.H.), but his header was just wide of goal.
- The Falcons struck first in the 32nd minute of the match. Lucas Fraser got down the left wing and into the box for Bentley and was taken down for a penalty kick. Chad Meyers converted the kick from the spot to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
- In the 38th minute, junior Caden Leader (Durham, N.H.) got his head on a dangerous corner kick delivered by freshman Connor Lovely (Weymouth, Mass.), but his effort was stopped by Griffin.
- Bentley doubled their lead at the 40:30 mark when Lukas Drahos got down the right wing and served in a pass to Christian Zarka, who tucked home a shot into the lower right corner to go ahead 2-0. Griffin made a diving save on a long-distance shot from junior Lucas Bravo Ollé (Sitges, Barcelona, Spain) just before halftime to keep the shutout intact.
- The Falcons earned two insurance goals early in the second half. Bentley whipped in a corner kick and Michael Haikal's shot hit the cross-bar, but came out to Luke Hanchar who buried the rebound to put the Falcons ahead, 3-0
- Less than two minutes later, Lukas Drahos got his head on a long throw-in by Haikal, which floated over Saint Anselm sophomore goalkeeper David Hood (Manchester, N.H.) to give Bentley a 4-0 lead.
- The Hawks registered several shots on goal in the final half hour, but all were denied by Falcons reserve goalkeeper Nick Malderella, and Bentley would secure the 4-0 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Saint Anselm outshot Bentley 17-8 in the game, while also holding a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal.
- The Hawks had nine corner kicks in the match, while the Falcons had two.
- Sophomore David Hood (Manchester, N.H.) recorded one save in goal for the Hawks while Griffin tallied nine saves and Malderella registered five stops for the Falcons.
- This marked the 55th all-time meeting between Saint Anselm and Bentley. The Hawks now hold a 22-27-6 overall record against the Falcons.
