Gorham, Maine – The Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team was defeated by the University of Southern Maine (USM) on Tuesday evening by a 5-0 final score from the USM Ice Arena. The Hawks fall to a 0-3-0 record while the Huskies pick up their first win of the season.

- The Hawks open Northeast-10 Conference play on Friday, Nov. 3 hosting the Eagles of Post University. The first contest of the two-game series is set for a 7:00 p.m. start time at the Sullivan Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Huskies opened the scoring just over seven minutes into the game after Matt Sullivan found the back of the net to give USM an early 1-0 advantage. Freshman goalie Cam Carroll (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) posted seven saves to keep the score at 1-0 heading into the second period.
- Saint Anselm started the second period by outshooting USM 6-1 and forcing four stops from the Huskies goalie Mason Palmer. The Huskies quickly tripled their lead after scoring two goals less than 15 seconds apart around the five-minute mark.
- USM notched their fourth goal in the third period after Jeff Pollara slotted the puck past Carroll on a power play opportunity. The Huskies would seal their 5-0 win following a score in the 13th minute of the final period.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- USM outshot Saint Anselm by a 24-17 margin in the game. The Huskies also held a 33-26 edge in faceoff wins.
- Junior Chase Reynolds (Middletown, Conn.) tallied four shots in the game for the Hawks.
- Carroll recorded 19 saves for Saint Anselm and allowed five goals after playing the entire 60 minutes in net.
