PREVIEW: Women's ice hockey hosts No. 2/5 Yale in non-conference finale

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team hosts nationally-ranked Yale University in its final non-conference game of the 2022-23 regular season.

The Hawks skated to a 4-4 tie on Jan. 6 and suffered a 2-1 loss in overtime the following afternoon against Long Island University in New England Women's Hockey Alliance play. Saint Anselm sits at 11-12-2 on the season with a 10-4-2 record against NEWHA opponents. Following the meeting with the Bulldogs, the Hawks will be off until Friday, Jan. 20 when they head to Stonehill College in the first leg of a home-and-home series with the Skyhawks.

The Bulldogs, who are ranked second in the most recent USCHO.com National Poll and fifth in the most recent USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine National Poll are 14-1-1 overall and 8-1-1 in ECAC Hockey play after downing Clarkson and Saint Lawrence by 3-1 and 4-2 scores on Jan. 6 and Jan. 7. Following the trip to the Hilltop, Yale will host Brown University on Thursday, Jan. 12.

HAWKS NOTES
  • Graduate student Kelly Golini (Tewksbury, Mass.) set a program record in Friday's 4-4 tie at LIU with her 117th career game played. Golini went for three points in that contest, scoring two goals and adding one assist.
  • On the season, Golini ranks second on the Hawks and in the NEWHA with 27 points, coming from 14 goals and 13 assists. Junior Natalie Tulchinsky (Clifton Park, N.Y.) holds the top spot in the NEWHA with 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points.
  • Sophomore Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) is third on the team in goals (10), assists (12), and points (22). Turner's 22 points are fourth most when compared to the rest of the league.
  • Sophomore Audrey Jackson (Shoreview, Minn.) is fourth on the Saint Anselm roster with 17 points. The sophomore has found the back of the net six times and registered 11 helpers in 2022-23.
  • Freshman Brooklyn Pancoast (Helena, Mont.) found the back of the goal for Saint Anselm in the team's 2-1 overtime loss to LIU on Saturday. She has scored five goals and added four helpers for nine points in 13 games.
  • Senior goaltender Allie Kelley (East Berne, N.Y.) has totaled 798 saves this season which are the most at the National Collegiate level. She owns a 0.918 save percentage and a 2.95 goals-against average in 24 starts. Kelley ranks sixth in the NEWHA in goals-against average and fifth in save percentage.
  • The Hawks power play sits at 14.4%, having scored 15 goals on 104 power play chances. The penalty kill has been shorthanded on 104 occasions and is operating at 81.7%.
SCOUTING YALE
  • Jordan Ray leads the Bulldogs offense with 19 points, coming from eight goals and 11 assists. Ray ranks second on the roster in both goals and assists.
  • Anna Bargman is the team leader with nine goals in 2022-23. Bargman holds the third spot on the team with nine assists while sitting in second at 18 points.
  • Elle Hartje is the Bulldogs leader with 14 helpers. She is tied with Bargman for second on the team at 18 points, adding four goals to her 14 assists. Charlotte Welch, Claire Dalton, and Carina DiAntonio all have double-digit points for Yale this season.
  • Pia Dukaric has started all 16 games in the Bulldogs goal. She holds a 1.27 goals-against average and a 0.947 save percentage. Dukaric has totaled 356 saves and has posted five shutouts in 2022-23.
  • The Bulldogs power play has netted six goals in 42 power play chances, good for a 14.3% conversion rate. The penalty kill has allowed just three goals in 46 times shorthanded which translates to a 93.5% penalty kill rate.
ALL-TIME vs. YALE
  • This will be the second meeting all-time between Saint Anselm and Yale and the first meeting from Sullivan Arena.
  • Yale grabbed an 8-0 win in the first meeting on Oct. 22, 2021 from New Haven, Conn.
  • Against ECAC Hockey programs this season, the Hawks are 1-3-0 with their win coming on Nov. 27 at Dartmouth.
