Saint Anselm, who picked up a convincing 61-37 road victory at Pace earlier this season on Tuesday, Nov. 22, enters play with a 9-11 overall record alongside a mark of 5-9 versus the Northeast-10 Conference. The Hawks have won three of their last five games.
The Setters own a matching 5-9 record against NE10 opponents and have racked up just eight victories in its 21-game schedule. Pace has lost three games in a row and six of its last seven games – the one win came at home against Saint Michael's on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
The Hawks have played just one game in Stoutenburgh Gymnasium since Tuesday, Jan. 10 and will take on the Setters before welcoming American International College to town on Tuesday, Feb. 7, also in NE10 action.
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- Sophomore Melanie Hoyt (Stamford, N.Y.) scored a career-high 26 points on Saturday as the Hawks recorded an 80-75 loss at Adelphi. Saint Anselm maintained a 13-point lead at one point in the loss. She racked up 20 first-half points, eclipsing her previous full-game career-high of 18 in just 16-plus minutes.
- Junior Gabby Turco (Wildwood, N.J.) produced 22 points, including seven perfect free throws, alongside five rebounds and five assists. Senior Liv Robles (Wallingford, N.J.) collected a game-high 11 rebounds, adding nine points and three assists in defeat.
- The league-leading Hawks also rank 14th nationally in free throw percentage (77.7%). Turco leads the NE10 and ranks eighth nationally with a 90.8% rate (109-for-120), topping the NE10 with 109 made shots at the charity stripe. Her 87.1% career free throw percentage ranks second in team history.
- Robles averages 6.5 defensive rebounds per game for the Hawks, the second-most by any NE10 student-athlete this season. She ranks seventh in the league with 7.8 overall rebounds per tilt.
- Head Coach Corey Boilard owns an 84-53 (.613) record in his five-season career on the Hilltop. He logged the same exact total (84-53, .613) during his five-year stint at Johnson & Wales (R.I.) from 2012-17.
SCOUTING PACE
- Winners of last season's NCAA Division II East Region Championship, Pace compiled a 24-8 record and was an Elite Eight program. The team this year has posted an 8-13 overall record, including a 3-7 record on its home court.
- Lauren Hackett leads the Setters with exactly nine points per game. She also ranks among the NE10 leaders in assists per game, averaging 3.7 per contest. Her 1.70 assist-to-turnover ratio is ninth in the NE10 and her 378 career assists ranks 20th among active NCAA Division II student-athletes.
- Arianna Stockinger is not far behind, chipping in with 8.7 per contest, and Ciara Collins averages eight per tilt. Tower Lorde is the team's top rebounder, averaging 7.2 rebounds alongside 7.1 points per game.
- The Setters are shooting just 34.0% in the team's last seven games, including a 32.0% mark from beyond the arc. At the free throw line, Pace has made just 66.0% of its shots from the charity stripe.
ALL-TIME vs. PACE
- The Hawks and Setters will be meeting for the 42nd time in the all-time series. Pace holds a 23-18 edge against Saint Anselm in women's basketball.
- In the 61-37 victory earlier this season over Pace by Saint Anselm, the Hawks used a big 22-0 first-half scoring run on the way to the win. Since the turn of the century, Saint Anselm has limited an opponent to 37 of fewer points on just eight occasions, most recently keeping Franklin Pierce to just 33 points on Nov. 14, 2018.
- Only 14 times have the Hawks kept an opponent to 37 or less points at their home venue.
