NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Saint Anselm College men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season against nationally-ranked Southern Connecticut State University by a 1-0 margin on Saturday.

Saint Anselm, ranked 10th in the East Region, falls to 5-1 on the season while Southern Connecticut State, the No. 15 team in NCAA Division II, climbs to 4-1-2 on the year.

In the early minutes of the game, Arnold Signell found the back of the net for the Owls, scoring his second goal of the season to create the final score. Senior Brian Underhill (Westford Mass.) made two saves prior to the attempt by Signell but couldn't come up with a third.

In the 25th minute, senior Taylor Silverstein (Concord N.H.) received a short corner kick and put the first shot on goal for the Hawks but it was saved by the goalkeeper.

In the early minutes of the second half, senior Kevin Jordan (Danvers, Mass) got a good look at goal and fired from outside the box but his attempt was also saved by the goalkeeper.

Besides the early mishap in the seventh minute, senior Brian Underhill held his own in goal for Saint Anselm, making eight saves out of the nine shots put on target by the Owls.
