After opening the season with a 6-1 mark, the Hawks have fallen in four consecutive games to nationally-ranked opponents. That makes the team 6-5 on the season and 4-4 against conference opponents. In the team's most recent contest, Saint Anselm fell by a 19-14 score to No. 12 Pace University on Apr. 16. After hosting the Ravens, Saint Anselm heads to the University of New Haven on Saturday Apr. 23 before hosting Bentley University on Wednesday, Apr. 27 for Senior Day.
The Ravens suffered seven consecutive losses to open the season but have won four of their last five contests to improve to 4-8 on the season and 4-6 in NE10 play. On Apr. 16, Franklin Pierce posted a 21-4 senior day win in its home regular season finale. After coming to the Hilltop, the Ravens head to Pace on Saturday, Apr. 23 for a 4 p.m. matchup with the Setters.
Fans are reminded that Grappone Stadium is a pet-free facility and that all non-service animals will be asked to leave the venue upon arrival.
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- Sophomores Alison Ferullo (North Andover, Mass.) and Jess Sullivan (Wrentham, Mass.) paced the Saint Anselm offense with four goals each in the loss to the Setters on Apr. 16.
- Sullivan currently ranks second on the team in points with 41 while ranking third in goals (25) and second in assists (16).
- Ferullo sits in fourth on the Hawks in goals (19) while ranking sixth in points with 19.
- Senior Jenna Balboni (Billerica, Mass.) led the Hawks with five points in the contest against Pace. Balboni netted one goal and added a career-high four assists. On the season, the senior leads Saint Anselm with 42 points. She ranks second on the team with 27 goals and third in assists with 15.
- Senior Annie Richards (Reading, Mass.) needs just three assists to reach the 100 career assists mark. In doing so, she would become the first Saint Anselm women's lacrosse student-athlete to reach that milestone. Richards, on the season, has 30 helpers and has added one goal for 31 points. Richards ranks third in the NE10 in assists this season.
- Junior Lexi Palmisano (Woburn, Mass.) leads the Saint Anselm offense with 36 goals this season. The junior registered at least three goals in the team's first seven games, aiding the Hawks to their hot start.
- Senior Grace Young (Merrimack, N.H.) has made 97 saves this season, bringing her career total to 261, which is fifth most in Saint Anselm women's lacrosse program history. Young owns an 11.93 goals-against average and a .439 save percentage this season.
- Young leads the team with 39 ground balls this season while Palmisano and senior McKenzie Robinson (Mont Vernon, N.H.) lead the squad with 10 caused turnovers each. Palmisano leads the squad with 47 draw controls while Robinson follows closely with 39.
SCOUTING FRANKLIN PIERCE
- Savannah Ernst leads the Ravens with 37 goals scored and in points with 43. Ernst has assisted on six other goals this season.
- Jenna Cimbron and Morgan Baxendale are tied for the team lead with 12 assists. Cimbron ranks second on the team with 22 goals and with 34 points. Baxendale has scored 13 goals to go with 12 assists to post 25 points.
- Megyn Ayotte netted four goals in the win over American International, bringing her goal total to 19, which is third on the team.
- Eight Ravens sit in double digits for points this season while seven have scored 11 or more goals.
- Erin Blake and Megan Bacik have drawn six starts each in the cage for Franklin Pierce. Blake is 0-6 with a 17.98 goals-against average and a .368 save percentage while Bacik is 4-2 and holds a 9.86 goals-against average and a .513 save percentage.
- Ayotte leads the Ravens with 38 draw controls. Ernst and Cimbron have over 30 draw controls each this season. Madisyn Van Horn leads the team with 13 caused turnovers in 2022.
ALL-TIME vs. FRANKLIN PIERCE
- This meeting marks the 22nd in the all-time series between the Hawks and Ravens. Saint Anselm is 17-4 against Franklin Pierce.
- The programs last met on May 3, 2021 in the NE10 Divisional semifinals. The Hawks posted a 17-14 win in that contest, giving the women's lacrosse program its second-ever NE10 postseason victory. Balboni scored a game-high six goals in that contest with Palmisano and Sullivan recording multi-goal efforts to aid Saint Anselm to the win.
- Saint Anselm is currently riding a five-game win streak over Franklin Pierce which is the longest in the matchup's history.
- The Hawks won eight of the first nine meetings in the series, starting on Apr. 18, 2000. Franklin Pierce won back-to-back games on Apr. 15, 2009 and Apr. 10, 2010. Since that tilt in 2010, Saint Anselm has posted wins in nine of the 10 meetings.
