MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's basketball team looks to shake off Tuesday's loss at Southern New Hampshire by traveling to Assumption University on Thursday to play the Greyhounds from Assumption University.

Receiving votes in the NABC Division II National Coaches' Poll, Saint Anselm posted a loss for just the second time in the 2022 calendar year on Tuesday, falling to the Penmen by a 71-67 margin at the Stan Spirou Field House. Prior to that defeat, the Hawks had won eight out their prior nine games.
Assumption fell below .500 on the year last time out at Saint Michael's, dropping a 68-64 contest in the Green Mountain State. In total, the Greyhounds have lost four of their last five games, but did defeat Southern New Hampshire on Saturday by a 73-64 score at home.
Fans looking to attend Thursday's game at Laska Gymnasium are expected to be familiar with the Assumption University spectator guidelines.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- Senior Miles Tention (Palo Alto, Calif.) scored 15 points against the Penmen on Tuesday and reeled in five rebounds while senior Gustav Suhr-Jessen (Virum, Denmark) picked up his third consecutive double-double, scoring 11 points while hauling in 10 rebounds.
- Senior Chris Paul (Highland Mills, N.Y.) finished with 14 points and eight rebounds at Southern New Hampshire. With 1,763 career points, Paul passes both Mike McCahey '16 (1,754) and Darren Clough '96 (1,760) to capture eighth place in team history for career points.
- Both the Hawks and Penmen shot under 38% from the floor in the game as the teams were evenly matched nearly throughout. It was Saint Anselm, however, that made only seven of their 17 free throws and whose bench was outscored by the Penmen, 33-to-11, in defeat.
- Paul ranks seventh in NCAA Division II in free throws attempted (146) and is 14th nationally in free throws made (104). His 19.4 points per game ranks fourth in the NE10 and he also ranks in the top-10 of conference student-athletes in field goal percentage (48.9%), offensive rebounds per game (2.26), rebounds (143) and assists per game (4.0).
- Paul and Tention are ranked third and fourth, respectively, in the NE10 in average minutes played per game. The duo each play just under 37 minutes per game for the Hawks.
- Saint Anselm is ranked second in the NE10 in defensive rebounds per game (28.68) while ranking third in won-loss percentage (68.4%) and three-point field goal defense (32.9%).
- Sophomore Matt Becker (Fairfield, Conn.) is sixth in the NE10 with 5.44 defensive rebounds per game.
- Tention averages 2.47 three-point field goals per contest, the eighth-best figure in the NE10.
SCOUTING ASSUMPTION
- The Greyhounds own a 5-10 record in NE10 play this season, but have been successful at home. Assumption has won six out of eight games at home in Laska Gym but have played to a 1-8 record away from Worcester.
- Assumption began the season with a 4-1 record, picking up wins against Georgian Court, Wilmington (Del.), Franklin Pierce and Molloy in the month of November. The Greyhounds have celebrated just three wins so far in 2022.
- Assumption leads the NE10 with 12.21 offensive rebounds per game while ranking second in rebounds per game (39.95) and turnover margin (1.9). The Greyhounds are dead last in the NE10 in free throw percentage (67.0%), ranking just ahead of Saint Anselm.
- Omar El Sheikh ranks in the top-10 among NCAA Division II student-athletes in defensive rebounds per game (8.05), double-doubles (14), offensive rebounds per game (3.89), rebounds (227) and rebounds per game (11.9).
- Matthew Kelly is averaging 17.1 points per game, ranking sixth in the NE10, and is pouring home an average of 2.74 three-point baskets per game.
ALL-TIME vs. ASSUMPTION
- The Hawks and Hounds are meeting for the 128th time, the most meetings by any Saint Anselm opponent in the team's history.
- Saint Anselm is 71-56 against the Greyhounds all-time, having won the first all-time game on Jan. 24, 1936 by a 29-26 margin.
- The Hawks have won 15 of the last 16 games against the Greyhounds, losing the one game by just three points on Feb. 6, 2018 at Assumption.
