MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's basketball team cruised to a 71-38 victory over Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday.

The Hawks improved to 14-11 overall with a 10-8 mark against the NE10. The Purple Knights fall to 4-19 on the season and 2-16 in conference play. Saint Anselm concludes its regular season on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at Bentley University with an opening tip-off slated for 5:30 p.m.

Prior to the start of Saturday's contest, Saint Anselm honored its three seniors in Stephanie Jankovic (Averill Park, N.Y.), Jenoyce Laniyan (Bedford, N.H.), and Peyton Steinman (Pittsfield, Mass.).

38 points allowed by the Hawks defense is the lowest this season and is the lowest since Saint Anselm held Franklin Pierce to 33 points on Nov. 14, 2018. The Hawks also grabbed 48 boards compared to 28 for the Purple Knights.

Steinman canned a game-high 29 points on 11-17 shooting including 6-6 from beyond the arc. She grabbed 13 rebounds for her second consecutive double-double and third in the team's last four games. She also eclipsed 1,700 career points scored on the Hilltop, becoming just the second in team history to reach that milestone. Steinman exited play with 1,717 career points across 114 games with Saint Anselm.

Sophomore Alexa Quirolo (New Rochelle, N.Y.) added 14 points for the Hawks while sophomore Gabby Turco (Wildwood, N.J.) netted 11 points for the Saint Anselm offense.

Steinman drained the first seven points of the game including a three and two layups on her way to 15 points in the opening quarter. The Hawks outscored the Purple Knights by a 17-8 margin first frame.

Jankovic and Turco combined to score the first seven of nine points in the second quarter which aided Saint Anselm on its way to outscoring Saint Michael's by an 11-4 margin the second stanza, taking a 28-12 lead to the half.

Emma MacDonough opened the third quarter with eight consecutive points for the Purple Knights but a 10-2 run that spanned 3:09 gave Saint Anselm a 27-point lead which they would manage to the end of the third quarter. The Hawks sunk nine of 11 shots in the third quarter, good for an 81.82% shooting percentage.

Saint Anselm continued its strong shooting in the fourth quarter as the team extended its lead to as many as 37 on a trey by Quirolo with 1:26 remaining in the contest. The Purple Knights would sink a pair of baskets in the final minute, pushing the final score to 71-38.
