MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team returns to play at the Oswego State Hockey Classic on Friday, Dec. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 31.
The Hawks will play the hosts, No. 9 Oswego State, at 7 p.m. on Friday and will then play either No. 3 Adrian College or Williams College at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Live Statistics for the tournament can be found

The Hawks skated to a 3-0 win over crosstown rival Southern New Hampshire University in their fall semester finale on Dec. 3. With the win, the Hawks improved to 8-3-1 on the season with a 5-3-1 mark in Northeast-10 Conference play. Following the tournament in Oswego, N.Y., Saint Anselm will head to Bowdoin College on Tuesday, Jan. 3 for a non-conference tilt with the Polar Bears.
The Lakers, who are ranked ninth in the most recent USCHO.com Division III National Poll, skated to a 3-0 win over Fredonia in SUNYAC play. The team is now 9-4-0 overall and 7-1-0 in conference contests. Oswego State will battle SUNY Potsdam on Friday, Jan. 6.
The Bulldogs, the reigning NCAA Division III men's ice hockey National Champions, moved to 7-2-1 overall and 4-2-0 in NCHA play after doubling up the Milwaukee School of Engineering by an 8-4 score on Dec. 3. Adrian is ranked No. 3 in the most recent USCHO.com National Poll and will battle Stevenson University on Wednesday, Jan. 4, a make-up contest which was slated for Dec. 10.
The Ephs suffered a 4-2 loss to Hamilton College in NESCAC play on Dec. 10, pushing them to 3-5-0 on the season and 2-4-0 in conference tilts. The team will return to league play on Friday, Jan. 6 when they welcome Trinity College to the Lansing Chapman Rink.
HAWKS NOTES
- Seniors Andrew Andary (Macomb, Mich.) and Matt Hayes (Salem, N.H.) are tied for the top spot on the roster with 12 points each. Sophomore Chase Reynolds (Middletown, Conn.), junior Tommy Schwartz (Ridgefield, Conn.), and senior Jack Murphy (Marshfield, Mass.) are all tied for third on the squad with 10 points apiece.
- Reynolds holds the Hawks top spot and is tied for third in the Northeast-10 Conference with seven goals scored this season while Andary follows closely with six. Hayes and Schwartz are third on the team, having netted five goals each this season.
- Murphy is tied for fourth in the NE10 with 10 assists, which also leads the team. Hayes is second on the Saint Anselm squad with seven helpers. Five student-athletes have at least five assists through 12 games in 2022-23.
- Senior Nick Howard (Burlington, Mass.) is 7-3-1 on the season with a 2.62 goals-against average and a 0.918 save percentage. Howard leads the NE10 in goals-against average, second in save percentage, and third in total saves (326).
- The Hawks are converting on the power play at 17.0% as they have netted eight goals in 47 power play chances while the penalty kill has an 85.7% success rate. They have allowed nine goals in 63 times shorthanded.
SCOUTING OSWEGO STATE
- Alex DiCarlo and Tommy Cahill are tied for the top spot on the roster with 12 points each. Shane Bull follows closely with 11 points, good for third on the team.
- DiCarlo leads the team with eight goals and has added four assists to get to his 12 points while Cahill has five goals and seven assists to reach 12 points.
- Daniel Colabufo and Connor Sleeth join Cahill at seven helpers, which are tied for the team lead.
- Cal Schell has started 10 of 13 games for the Lakers. Schell is 7-3-0 with a 2.27 goals-against average and a 0.925 save percentage, totaling 260 saves. Eric Green has drawn two starts while Richie Parent has started the other contest in the goal for Oswego State.
- The Lakers have netted eight power play goals in 41 chances, good for a 19.5% power play percentage. The penalty kill has been successful in 33-of-40 times shorthanded which translates to an 82.5% rate.
SCOUTING ADRIAN
- Matus Spodniak leads the Bulldogs with 20 points with Ty Enns and Sam Ruffin sitting in a tie for second at 15 points apiece.
- Spodniak has netted 13 goals and added seven assists to bring him to 20 points. Spodniak is averaging 1.30 goals per game and 2.00 points per game which both lead all of NCAA Division III.
- Ruffin leads Adrian with 12 assists while Enns ranks second on the team in goals and assists (7 G, 8 A).
- Dershahn Stewart has started a team-high six games and owns a 4-1-1 record with a 2.66 goals-against average and a 0.902 save percentage. Nic Tallarico has started in four games in the Bulldogs goal and has a 3.28 goals-against average and a 0.886 save percentage.
- The Bulldogs are 18-for-48 on the power play, converting with the extra skater at nearly 38%. The penalty kill unit has been shorthanded on 41 occasions and allowed just four goals. They have a 90.2% penalty kill rate.
SCOUTING WILLIAMS
- Sean Clarke leads the Ephs with seven points, coming from two goals and a team-high five assists.
- Mac Carso, Henry Muller, and Connor Tobin are second and tied for third with six points and five points respectively. Carso is tied with Jonah Gold for the Williams lead with four goals scored. Muller and Tobin have lit the lamp twice each and assisted on three others for their five points.
- Evan Ruschil has started six of eight tilts in the Ephs goal. He is 3-3-0 with a 2.47 goals-against average and a 0.934 save percentage. Ruschil has totaled 212 saves this season.
- The Ephs power play sits at 14.3%, netting four goals in 28 power play opportunities. The penalty kill has allowed six goals in 21 times shorthanded, equating to a 71.4% penalty kill rate.
ALL-TIME vs. OSWEGO STATE, ADRIAN, WILLIAMS
- The Hawks and Lakers will be meeting for the fourth time in the all-time series and the first since Nov. 26, 2000. Saint Anselm is 2-1-0 against Oswego State.
- If the Hawks and Bulldogs were to meet, it would be the first meeting all-time between the programs.
- If Saint Anselm and Williams were to battle on Saturday, it would be the 25th meeting all-time. The programs have not met since Jan. 21, 2011 which went down as a 2-2 tie, pushing the all-time series to 16-6-2 in the Ephs' favor.
