MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team heads to Saint Michael's College for a pair of Northeast-10 Conference matchups on Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday, Nov. 19.

The Hawks split a two-game set with Assumption University, falling by a 7-4 score on Nov. 11 before capturing a 5-2 win the following afternoon to improve to 4-2-0 on the season and 3-2-0 in NE10 play. Following the pair of games against the Purple Knights, the Hawks will head to Rutland, Vt. for the Castleton Tournament and face Buffalo State on Friday, Nov. 25 to open the tournament.
The Purple Knights also split their weekend series against Franklin Pierce University. The team netted a 6-3 win on Nov. 11 before falling in game two by a 5-2 score. Saint Michael's is now 3-3-0 overall with a 2-2-0 record against league opponents. The team hosts Amherst College on Tuesday, Nov. 22 for its final game in the month of November.
HAWKS NOTES
- Sophomores Chase Reynolds (Middletown, Conn.) and Trevor Lally (Arlington, Mass.) collected NE10 Player of the Week and Goaltender of the Week honors earlier in the week. Reynolds registered four points on three goals and an assist while Lally turned aside 39 shots on goal for his first collegiate win against Assumption on Nov. 12.
- Reynolds, junior Tommy Schwartz (Ridgefield, Conn.), and senior Jack Murphy (Marshfield, Mass.) are tied for the Hawks lead with seven points each.
- Reynolds and Schwartz are the top goal scorers for Saint Anselm with five and four tallies apiece respectively. Reynolds is tied for the conference lead in goals.
- The Hawks have netted 26 goals, averaging just over four per game in the early going of the season. The team ranks second in the NE10 in total goals scored (26) and in goals per game (4.33).
- Murphy is the Hawks leader and NE10 leader with seven assists in 2022-23. Juniors Will Christensen (Ridgefield, Conn.) and Jac Cordeiro (Barnstable, Mass.) are tied for second on the team with four assists each.
- Senior Nick Howard (Burlington, Mass.) started the first five games of the season in the goal for the Hawks. Howard is 3-2-0 with a 3.59 goals-against average and a 0.893 save percentage. Lally has drawn one start and holds a 2.00 goals-against average and a 0.951 save percentage.
- The Hawks power play is operating at 16.7%, netting four goals in 24 chances while the penalty kill is successful in 31-of-37 times shorthanded, good for a kill percentage of 83.8.
SCOUTING SAINT MICHAEL'S
- Brennan McFarland and Matt Schreiner are tied for the Purple Knights lead with seven points each. Four other Purple Knights are tied for third on the squad with four points.
- Schreiner and Zach Taylor have netted three goals apiece. Four Saint Michael's student-athletes have lit the lamp twice in 2022-23.
- McFarland leads the team and is second in the NE10 with six assists. Schreiner and Gabriel Gagnon rank second and third on the squad with four and three helpers each.
- Marshall Murphy and Cole Manahan have drawn three starts apiece in the goal for Saint Michael's. Murphy is 2-1-0 with a 3.00 goals-against average and a 0.916 save percentage while Manahan is 1-2-0 with a 2.39 goals-against average and a 0.940 save percentage. Murphy and Manahan rank one and two in the conference in both goals-against average and save percentage.
- The Purple Knights, as a team, have netted 19 goals this season while allowing 17. The Saint Michael's power play is operating at 9.4%, netting three goals in 32 chances. The penalty kill has been short-handed 28 times and has given up 10 goals, good for a kill percentage of 64.3.
ALL-TIME vs. SAINT MICHAEL'S
- The two programs will be meeting for the 46th and 47th times in the all-time series. The Hawks enjoy a 27-15-3 record against the Purple Knights in men's ice hockey.
- Saint Anselm and Saint Michael's met three times during the 2021-22 season, with the Hawks taking two of the three contests.
- The Hawks took a pair of home tilts on Jan. 28, 2022 and Jan. 29, 2022 by 4-3 and 6-2 scores, marking the last meetings between the teams.
