MANSFIELD, Mass. – For the second time this season, sophomore quarterback Anthony Santino (Woodbridge, N.J.) was selected by the Northeast-10 Conference as its football Rookie of the Week on Monday.
In his team's 27-20 victory at American International on Saturday, Santino was 27-for-34 through the air for 261 yards, connecting with junior Blaine Burkhalter (Burnet, Texas) for his lone touchdown pass of the day.
Since taking on the starting role on Oct. 29 against Pace, Santino has posted at least 204 aerial yards in each game, completing 62.8% of his passes for 721 yards. Throwing for three touchdowns, Santino also scampered home with the first rushing score of his career against New Haven on Oct. 1.
Saint Anselm has now had a weekly award recipient in each of the last three weeks and five in total during the 2022 campaign, which recently ended with six wins for the Hawks (most in a season since 2014).
