SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- Saint Anselm matched Assumption this season with an 11-2 record in league play and enters Tuesday's NE10 Quarterfinals game as the No. 1 seed by virtue of a head-to-head victory over the Greyhounds earlier this season.
- Saint Anselm found itself among the five teams listed in the second official set of NCAA Division II Field Hockey rankings released on Nov. 9. The Hawks check in as the No. 2-ranked team in the East Region. The Hawks trail the top-ranked program from Assumption and are placed ahead of Bentley, Adelphi and Pace in the top five.
- Senior forward Maggie Malloy (Canton, Mass.) was picked as the Player of the Week by the Northeast-10 Conference on Monday. She scored a team-leading five goals this past week, helping the Hawks to a perfect 3-0 record with three tallies against Southern Connecticut State on Friday before posting two goals at New Haven on Saturday.
- With her two markers against the Chargers last time out, Malloy has now produced a program-record 44 points this season via 19 goals and six assists. She passed the previous team record, established over a decade ago by Kristina Katsikis '13 during the 2011 season.
- In the game prior, Malloy set the single-season goals record at Saint Anselm with her fourth hat trick of the year, giving her 17 to also pass Katsikis in the record book. Exiting the weekend, Malloy ranks third in NCAA Division II in goals per game (1.06) and is fourth in points per game (2.44).
- Junior Maddie Davis (Exeter, N.H.) scored a goal just 3:45 into the game against New Haven and added an assist as well, building upon her single-season record with 12 assists. She also cracked the 30-point plateau on the year, becoming just the fifth in team history to do so.
- Davis now has a career-long streak of eight games with at least one point, racking up nine goals and six assists for 24 points (9-6=24) in that span. Malloy has points in seven of her last eight games, scoring five goals of her team's last 10 goals in the last two games.
- When playing at home in the friendly confines of Grappone Stadium, Saint Anselm has produced a 67-10 (.870) record since the start of the 2015 campaign. Since the 2018 season, the Hawks have lost just six out of their 44 games played at home and only four of those defeats have come in regulation time.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
- Annemartine Christis leads the way with six goals and 11 assists for 23 points (6-11=23) and recently saw an eight-game point streak come to an end, logging 17 of those 23 points in that span (4-9=17). In 35 career games, she has scored 15 goals with 16 assists for 46 points (15-16=46).
- Christis is fourth in NCAA Division II with 0.61 assists per game, trailing only Davis of Saint Anselm for the league lead.
- Freshman Emma Peeters was selected as the NE10 Goaltender and Rookie of the Week on Monday after helping the Penmen to a shutout over Molloy on Saturday. She also backstopped her team to a 3-2 overtime victory at home against American International on Wednesday.
- Peeters is a five-time weekly award winner, securing Rookie of the Week three times and Goaltender of the Week twice to date.
- SNHU has been blanked just once this season, falling 1-0 to Pace on Sept. 30.
ALL-TIME, NE10 POSTSEASON
- Saint Anselm owns a 7-6 record in the NE10 postseason all-time and has made it to the NE10 Championship game on three occasions. The Hawks won their first NE10 postseason title in 2019, defeating Southern New Hampshire by a 2-0 margin in November 2019.
- Saint Anselm has won five of its last seven NE10 playoff games with its most recent defeat coming at home to Pace on Nov. 1, 2021 in the opening round.
- SNHU is 2-2 in NE10 postseason play all time with both losses coming to the Hawks at Grappone Stadium. The Penmen qualified in back-to-back seasons in 2018 and 2019.
ALL-TIME vs. SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
- Saint Anselm has won each of the 14 all-time meetings between both programs. Southern New Hampshire revived its dormant field hockey program prior to the 2014-15 academic year under the care of Head Coach Julie Munson.
- The Hawks have outscored SNHU by a combined 38-to-10 margin since the first meeting on Oct. 25, 2014, a 5-0 victory for Saint Anselm. Four of the last five games between the programs were won by the Hawks via shutout.
- Saint Anselm picked up a 3-1 victory over the Penmen earlier this season, moving to 14-0 all-time versus the cross-town rival. Head Coach Carolyn King-Robitaille picked up her 125th career victory for the Hawks in that contest.
