Junior
Olivia Gotobed (North Andover, Mass.) netted her fourth goal of the season in the 48th minute, marking the lone tally of the match. She is now tied for the team lead in goals (4) and points (12).
Senior
Kate Macaluso (Malverne, N.Y.) made her first start of the season for Saint Anselm and posted a four-save shutout win. The win is the 11th of Macaluso's career which puts her in a tie for eighth all-time and it is her eighth career shutout which is good for a tie for ninth, both in program history.
A pair of chances in the opening minutes by Assumption nearly gave them as early lead as
Annie Irwin fired a shot, trying to beat Macaluso. However, the senior came off her line in an attempt to cut down the angle inside the 18-yard box and made the save on Irwin's shot.
Haleigh Ward fired a shot on Macaluso in the fourth minute but she was up to the task early in the match.
Senior
Megan Nguyen (Dudley, Mass.) headed a shot on goal off a corner kick play which was stopped by Assumption goalkeeper
Julia Walsh, marking the strongest chance for the Hawks in the opening minutes.
Saint Anselm would net the first goal of the match in the 48th minute as Gotobed collected a long pass in the right corner from freshman
Addie Birkett (East Greenwich, R.I.). Gotobed made a quick cut through two defenders and fired a left-footed shot into the upper half of the goal to give Saint Anselm a 1-0 lead.
The Greyhounds best chance in the second half to find an equalizer came in the 85th minute as
Athena Kordis won a loose ball on a throw in and drove toward the middle of the field. She would fire a long shot from about 25 yards out that would sail just wide of the left side of the goal.
The Hawks held a 15-14 edge in shots and a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal. Saint Anselm was awarded six corner kicks compared to five for the Greyhounds.
Macaluso turned aside three shots in the first half and faced just one shot on target in the second, totaling four stops. Walsh made six saves in the goal for Assumption.
