Saint Anselm has jumped out to a 9-6 record this season, defeating New Haven last time out in convincing fashion, 81-43. The Hawks have won three of their last four games and will look to down the Dolphins in what is a rematch of the 2019 NCAA Division II East Region Championship game (won by Saint Anselm).

Le Moyne has won five games in a row, moving to 9-2 overall on the year following a 60-38 victory over Saint Michael's on Wednesday, Jan. 19. Each of the team's two losses this year have come on the road (at Saint Rose, 11/23; at No. 9 Ashland, 12/20).

Fans attending Saturday's game are expected to familiarize themselves with the College's spectator and ticketing policies.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM

  • Saint Anselm scored 54 points in the second half alone against New Haven on Wednesday, securing an 81-43 victory over the University of New Haven in NE10 play. The Hawks, ranked ninth in the East Region (D2SIDA Media Poll), are now 5-3 in league competition so far this season.
  • The 38-point margin of victory for Saint Anselm is its largest this season and the sixth time in 2021-22 that the Hawks have defeated an opponent by double digits. Since the 2000-01 season, Saint Anselm has won a game by 38 or more points on just 12 occasions.
  • The Hawks poured home 13 three-point baskets in the contest, reaching that threshold for just the third time in team history – Saint Anselm most recently poured home 13 triples at Nyack on Dec. 30, 2011. The all-time team record of 17 was set against Mercy (N.Y.) on Nov. 12, 2016.
  • Senior Peyton Steinman (Pittsfield, Mass.) scored 26 points for the Hawks against New Haven, eclipsing 1,500 for her four-year career and becoming just the sixth in team history to reach that milestone. She exits play with 1,509 career points across 104 career games in a Saint Anselm uniform, passing Andrea Sunday '95 and her 1,494 points from 1991-95.
  • Steinman ranks 13th in NCAA Division II with 20.3 points per game, ranking second on the league, and her 90 free throws are fourth in the country. She has attempted 103 free throws, the eighth-most in NCAA Division II, and Steinman's 87.4% free throw percentage on the year is 27th nationally.
  • Sophomore Gabby Turco (Wildwood, N.J.) ranked second on the team with a career-high 22 points, connecting on three triples versus the Chargers and narrowly missing a double-double with nine rebounds – she led Saint Anselm with four assists. Sophomore Alexa Quirolo (New Rochelle, N.Y.), the reigning NE10 Rookie of the Week, scored a career-high 16 points with a personal-best six rebounds.
  • Saint Anselm has made 12 of more free throws in all but two games this season and are shooting north of 80% as a team (216-for-267), ranking seventh in the country and third in the NE10 this year. If the season ended today, the 2021-22 Hawks would be the first to shoot over 77% on the season as a team.
  • Saint Anselm commits just 14.4 personal fouls per game, the third-fewest in the NE10.

LOOKING AT LE MOYNE

  • Under first-year Head Coach Mary Grimes, the Dolphins have won nine of their first 11 games to date and find themselves ranked fourth in the East Region, according to the D2SIDA East Region Media Poll, behind Southern New Hampshire, USciences and Pace.
  • Le Moyne tops the NE10 in several statistical categories, including fewest personal fouls per game (11.5), rebound margin (11.5), offensive rebounds per game (16.7), fewest overall fouls (127) and fewest turnovers (175). The team is second in scoring defense (56.4) and field-goal percentage defense (35.2%).
  • Emma Brinker is hauling in 5.3 offensive boards per game, ranking second in NCAA Division II. She has also racked up seven double-doubles on the year, leading the NE10 while placing in the top 20 in the country.
  • Erin Fouracre and Lytoya Baker rank in the top-10 of the NE10 in assist-to-turnover as the former's 5.1 assists per game is third in the NE10.
  • Saeeda Abdul-Aziz leads the NE10 in three-point baskets per game (2.64) and three-point field goals made (29).

ALL-TIME vs. LE MOYNE

  • Saint Anselm is 21-19 against Le Moyne in the all-time series dating back to Jan. 18, 1997.
  • The Hawks have won each of the last two games against the Dolphins, including the 2019 NCAA Division II East Region Championship played at USciences on Mar. 18, 2019.
  • The Hawks upset three-straight teams in the East Regional, downing second-seed (and nationally ranked) Bentley in the first round before handing sixth-seeded Stonehill a loss in the semifinal round. Le Moyne (26-6) entered the championship game as the fourth seed.
  • Saint Anselm entered the aforementioned NCAA postseason with a combined 0-6 record against the three teams they toppled in the Division II Championship, including Le Moyne during the regular season (70-53).
