Saint Anselm, the No. 9-ranked team in the East Region (D2SIDA Media Poll), will attempt to shake off a narrow 63-60 loss on the road at Adelphi on Saturday. The Hawks will take on three of their next five opponents at home on the Hilltop, right in the heart of the Northeast-10 Conference schedule.

New Haven is mired in a three-game losing streak, falling to 5-8 overall on the season while remaining without a win in seven NE10 games to date. Beginning the year with a 3-0 record, the Chargers have since lost six of their last seven games entering play.

Fans attending Wednesday's game are expected to familiarize themselves with the College's spectator and ticketing policies.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM

  • Against Adelphi on Saturday, senior Peyton Steinman (Pittsfield, Mass.) led all players with 25 points. Steinman added six boards, four assists, three steals, and a block to her stat line. She secured sole possession of seventh place in the all-time scoring list while also eclipsing the 150 career steals and the 300 assists marks.
  • Steinman ranks fifth nationally with 85 free throws made and her 86.7% free throw percentage is fifth in the NE10. She also ranks second in the conference with 87 field goals made and is shooting 41.4% from the floor, the 11th-finest figure in the league.
  • Steinman enters play with 1,483 career points across 103 games on the Hilltop. She is sixth all-time on the team's scoring list and sixth all-time in career points per game (14.4). Steinman remains the team's all-time leader in career free throws (417) and became just the 10th student-athlete in team history to record at least 300 assists in a career, accomplishing that feat against Adelphi.
  • Sophomore Alexa Quirolo (New Rochelle, N.Y.) added 12 points off the bench against Adelphi, earning the first NE10 Rookie of the Week honor of her career on Monday, while freshman Melanie Hoyt (Stamford, N.Y.) chipped in 11 points. Freshman Katie Lemanski (Haymarket, Va.) finished with a game-high six assists.
  • Sophomore Gabby Turco (Wildwood, N.J.) is in the midst of a fine rookie season, ranking third (behind Steinman in second) in minutes played per game (34.4). Her 16 points per game places her in the top-10 of NE10 student-athletes.
  • Head Coach Corey Boilard recently secured his 150th career win. Across a nine-season career between Johnson & Wales (R.I.) and Saint Anselm, he has posted 152 wins against just 88 losses for a .633 winning percentage – on the Hilltop, he has won 66% of his games (68-35).

PREVIEWING NEW HAVEN

  • New Haven entered the 2021-22 campaign ranked second in the NE10 Preseason Coaches' Poll, trailing first-place Adelphi by just three votes. The Chargers returned four of the team's starting five from the 2019-20 season this year.
  • Aurora Deshaies, a NE10 All-Rookie Team selection as a freshman, is second in the NE10 in several statistical categories, including rebounds per game (10.8) and rebounds (130). Her 3.6 rebounds per game stand as the third-best figure in NE10 play and she ranks 43rd in NCAA Division II in that metric.
  • Camryn DeBose has logged the sixth-most minutes of any NE10 student-athlete (453) and is averaging a team-best 16.5 points per game. Her 40.4% field goal percentage is tops on the team among qualified student-athletes.
  • Brie Pergola is ranked ninth in the league with 3.2 assists per game and her 1.03 assist-to-turnover ratio is 10th in the NE10.
  • Across an 18-season career as a Head Coach, Deborah Buff has won 252 career games between stops at RIT, Endicott, Wheeling and New Haven. With the Chargers, she has enjoyed 41 wins in 70 games (.586).

  • The Hawks have won three of the last five games in the series against the Chargers, including a 55-44 win over New Haven in the 2020 NE10 Quarterfinals.
