MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College volleyball team opens the 2021 season with a pair of tri-matches on Saturday, Sept. 4 and Sunday, Sept. 5. On Saturday, the Hawks play Felician University and Bloomsburg University while Sunday sees contests against Le Moyne College and Post University. Saturday's action is set to start at 11 a.m. with Sunday's contests starting at 10 a.m. This is the opening weekend for all teams.

HAWKS NOTES
- The Hawks played just two matches in the spring of 2021 which include a 3-0 win over Franklin Pierce and a 3-0 loss to Stonehill.
- In 2019, Saint Anselm earned its first NCAA postseason win as they defeated New Haven by a 3-1 score. The Hawks finished the season at 21-12 with a 9-4 record in Northeast-10 Conference play.
- The Hawks were selected to finish third in the NE10 preseason coaches' poll.
- The Hawks return just five players from the 2019 season with 15 student-athletes on the 2021 roster. 10 student-athletes appeared in the spring contests.
- A pair of juniors, Caroline Belmontez (San Diego, Calif.) and Michelle Henwood (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico), were selected by head coach Braden Zamore to lead the Hawks into their first regular playing season in 635 days.
- Belmontez is a defensive specialist who appeared in 124 sets as a freshman. She registered a team-high 532 digs, averaging 4.29 per set. Her total amount of digs is third in program history for a single season. Belmontez added 146 assists to aid the offensive attack. She also added 57 service aces to the Hawks scoring which was tied for eighth in all of Division II.
- Henwood is just one of three student-athletes to eclipse the 1,000 assists in a single-season in program history as she earned 1,072 in the 2019 season. The All-NE10 Third Team member played in all 33 matches for the Hawks and added 45 service aces as a freshman.
- During the spring contests, sophomore Audrey Simmons (North Hampton, N.H.) led the Hawks offense with 17 kills in six sets. She collected 19 points, averaging 3.17 per set. She also added 11 digs and one solo block on the defensive side of play.
- Sophomore Audrey Wetjen (Henderson, Nev.) played in all six spring sets, leading the team with eight blocks, three solo and five assisted. She ranked third on the team in kills with 11 on 29 swings. Wetjen was responsible for 17.5 points.
- A junior defensive specialist, Colleen Chen (Superior, Colo.) will impact the Hawks as she earned 117 digs in 81 sets in 2019. Chen added 18 kills and nine assists in the offensive transition.
- Lois Dogbe (Winchester, Calif.) is a junior middle block who played in 31 matches for the Hawks. She earned 43 kills on 133 attempts while earning 10 blocks, one solo and nine assisted.
GOLDEN FALCONS NOTES
- The Golden Falcons played eight matches in the spring of 2020. They finished with a 2-6 record. They fell to Georgian Court in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) semifinals.
- During the 2019 season, the Golden Falcons were 16-18 overall with a 13-6 mark in CACC play. They set a new program record for wins in a single season and played in the CACC semifinals for the first time as they fell in five sets to Holy Family to end the historic campaign.
- Felician was voted to finish first in the CACC North Division in the preseason coaches' poll.
- The Golden Falcons had 11 student-athletes on the roster with just three of them returning from the 2019 season. They also have five who appear on the roster from the spring of 2021.
- Miquela Martinez is a setter who appeared in every set for the 2019 Golden Falcons. She posted 1,005 assists, which led the team and added the second-most digs on the team with 383. She also added 57 kills and a team-high 39 service aces. Martinez posted 108 digs and 247 assists.
- An outside hitter, Maddie Sloan led the team in kills with 278, averaging 2.42 kills per set. She appeared in all 24 matches during the 2019 season. Sloan was second on the team in kills with 92 during the spring matches.
- A redshirt sophomore middle block, Catherine Lentsch, appeared in 27 sets as a freshman. She earned 84 kills on 283 attempts. She added six solo blocks and 22 assisted for 28 total.
- Hannah Chiswick earned 77 kills on 288 attempts during the spring season. She averaged 2.66 kills per set while playing in all 29 sets the Golden Falcons played in. The junior added 69 digs and six blocks. She led the team with 11 service aces.
- Sophomore defensive specialist, Natalie Kashian, played in all 29 sets during the spring season, earning 44 digs and seven service aces.
- The Hawks hold a 6-0 advantage over the Golden Falcons all-time. The last meeting came in the 2019 season which resulted in a 3-0 win for Saint Anselm.
- This will be the first meeting that is not a neutral site contest.
HUSKIES NOTES
- The Huskies did not play any matches during the 2020-21 academic year.
- They went 10-22 during the 2019 season with a 5-14 record in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.
- In the PSAC preseason coaches' poll, the Huskies were selected to finish sixth in the East Division.
- Bloomsburg has 25 student-athletes on their roster for the 2021 season, with 23 of them being rostered for the 2020 season. They are returning 16 from the 2019 roster.
- In 2019, Mary Kate Mooney, posted a team-high 265 kills. Mooney added 311 digs to help on the defensive side of the ball. Classmate Grace Giza was only three kills behind at 262. Giza was second on the team in blocks with 86, 19 solo and 67 assisted. They both averaged 2.32 kills per set as Mooney played in 114 sets and Giza was in 113.
- Senior Bryn Stek led the team in assists with 413 and in service aces with 35. She averaged 3.97 assists per set. Brooke Kratzer and Sydney Buell posted over 200 assists each for the Huskies. Buell posted 164 kills, 150 digs, and 43 blocks. Kratzer earned 104 digs to aid the offensive transition.
- Julia Burchin played in 114 sets, earning 203.5 points on 142 kills. Burchin led the team with 88 blocks, including 79 assists blocks. Mia Nicholes played in 95 sets. She tallied 89 kills and earned 73 blocks, earning .77 blocks per set.
- The Hawks and Huskies have only met one other time which came in the 2019 season. The Hawks earned a 3-1 victory.
DOLPHINS NOTES
- The Dolphins did not play any matches during the 2020-21 academic year.
- In 2019, Le Moyne posted a 14-13 record overall with a 7-6 record in NE10 Conference play. They fell to Stonehill in the first round of the NE10 Conference championship.
- The Dolphins were selected to finish eighth in the NE10 Conference preseason coaches' poll.
- Le Moyne is returning seven student-athletes from the 2019 season. They have 15 student-athletes on their current roster. 12 of the 15 were rostered during the 2020-21 academic year.
- Madeline Kennedy was third on the team in 2019 with 192 kills, earning the team 213.0 points. She appeared in 85 sets and 24 matches overall. She registered 2.26 kills per set on 630 attempts. Kennedy posted seven solo blocks and 26 assisted for 33 blocks.
- Emily Mosack led the team in digs with 335, averaging 3.32 digs per set. She appeared in every set for the Dolphins. She also recorded 27 service aces to aid the offense.
- Senior, Lexi Petraitis ranked third on the team in blocks with 37, six solo and 31 assisted. In 54 sets, she earned 41 kills and 15 service aces.
- As a setter, Emily Yancone led the team in assists with 713. She averaged 8.20 assists per set, which ranked sixth in the NE10.
- The Dolphins hold a 22-4 advantage in the all-time series. The most recent contest was hosted by Le Moyne in the 2019 season and resulted in a 3-0 win for the Dolphins.
EAGLES NOTES
- The Eagles did not play any matches during the 2020-21 academic year.
- In 2019, Post was 6-24 overall with a 6-13 record in CACC play.
- In the CACC preseason coaches' poll, the Eagles were selected to finish second in the North Division.
- There are 16 student-athletes on the roster for Post. Seven of them are returners from the 2019 season while 10 were rostered during the 2020-21 academic year.
- Playing in 99 of 100 sets, Jayda Roman posted 250 digs which ranked second on the team. She added 183 kills on 733 attempts. Roman led the team with 21 service aces.
- Ranking second on the team in assists and third in digs, Kim Buttery earned 245 assists and 243 digs to help transition the offense. She was also tied for third on the team with 18 service aces.
- Aniya Goodman earned 174.5 points after posting 144 kills. She added eight solo blocks and 27 assisted for 35 total blocks.
- Senior Elizabeth McGrath led the team in assists with 532, averaging 7.49 assists per set.
- Saint Anselm is 7-5 all-time against Post. The Hawks currently hold a two-match win streak with their last meeting coming in 2019. Saint Anselm won 3-0 in Waterbury, Conn.
