The Hawks posted a 4-0 win over Stonehill on Wednesday night. Senior
Zach Elliot (Manchester, N.H.) opened the scoring in the 10th minute. The Hawks lead was doubled on the first career goal for junior
Jonathan Alves (Peabody, Mass.). The Hawks got two second half goals from junior
Josue Assantha (Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo) who posted five points for the match. Junior
Brian Underhill (Westford, Mass.) made four saves to preserve the shutout.
The Chargers fell in double overtime on Wednesday to Adelphi, 3-2. After a scoreless first 67 minutes, Adelphi found the back of the net in the 68th minute and the 74th minute. However, the Chargers rallied with two goals in the final 10 minutes to force overtime.
Adam Lindstrom and
Pau Santanach were the goal scorers for New Haven. Adelphi found the game-winner in the 107th minute.
Themis Kastoris made one save in the losing effort.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
- Saint Anselm won its first two matches of the season before falling to Saint Michael's. They are winners in their last two matches.
- At home, the Hawks are 2-0 while on the road they are 2-1.
- Elliot is the team leader in goals with five. Assantha is second with three goals while senior Patrick Sorensen (Sturbridge, Mass.) and Alves and junior Taylor Silverstein (Concord, N.H.) all have one tally each.
- Elliot and Assantha are tied for the team-lead with two assists. Silverstein and sophomores Zach Verow (Bedford, N.H.) and Thomas Prentice (Merrimack, N.H.) have one helper each.
- Underhill has recorded every minute in goal for the Hawks. He is 4-1 and has three shutouts. He holds a .40 goals against average and a .900 save percentage after allowing just two goals on 20 shots on goal.
- Underhill ranks ninth in Division II in goals against average and is second in the conference. His save percentage is eighth-best nationally and is tops in the conference.
- Elliot ranks 13th nationally in goals per game at 1.00. He is also tied for 19th with an average of 2.4 points per game.
SCOUTING THE CHARGERS
- New Haven opened the season with three wins but have dropped its previous two matchups, both in NE10 play.
- The Chargers are 1-1 at home and 2-1 on the road.
- Santanach leads the Chargers and the conference in total goals with seven. That ranks third nationally. He also is tied for fourth in game-winning goals with two.
- Alvaro Ezpeleta is second on the team with three goals and Tiago Vintem has two. Five other Chargers have scored a goal this season.
- Tano Desseno leads the squad with three assists. Francisco Guedes and Alexander Gunnarsson have two assists each. Seven other student-athletes have recorded a helper.
- Kastoris has started all five matches and holds a 3-2 record. He has a 2.57 goals against average and a .536 save percentage. He has made 15 saves on 28 shots on goal.
ALL-TIME vs. NEW HAVEN
- This will be the 18th meeting all-time between the Hawks and Chargers. The Hawks lead the all-time series, 8-6-3.
- Saint Anselm grabbed a 3-2 overtime win in the last meeting on Sept. 28, 2019. Silverstein tied the match early in the second half which forced the tie and extra time.
- The first meeting came on Sept. 24, 1997 and started a five match win streak for the Hawks. That is the longest streak in the all-time series.
- Under head coach Bruno Victal, the Hawks are 2-1-1 against the Chargers.
